Judgeing from Gamespot's review, if you can find it really cheap (less than $10 USD) and you really want it, then get it. If not, then it maybe one of the Settlers games, they sound similar.
I did try settlers but that really is a different type of game. Basically theres two different parts to the game, 1) a city building resource management sim and 2) a very basic war game element.
Whats really cool, is like in runescape everything can be created ulitmatley from simple building blocks, so for you archer, you have to cut trees, take the logs to the sawmill then to the weapons workshop to get the bow. Grow wheat, mill the wheat, feed the wheat to the swine, then slaughter the pigs, take the hide to the tannery to get the armour, then on top train a recruit. In addition every building has more then one use ie pigs not only provide armour but also meet, wheat can be made into bread and feed for the pigs etc.
To suceed at each level you have to plan and build your town right so you can raise an army good enough to take the map.
Other wise for instance if you havent trained enough surfs and labours and you have too many things on the go at the same time, the whole town almost goes into grid lock.
As you can tell I have loved the game in the past, and in fact the only reason I got rid of it in the first place wasthat I sold my pc and got a mac. Then when i got a pc again, there was issues with the game under XP. These have been sorted but I was wondering ifg there was anything else?
