My system
Athlon 3500+
Asus A8V - deluxe MB
1 GB (2*512) Kingston DDR400 PC3200
Geforce 6800 vid card - Leadtek A400 TDH (not a PCI card)
MB sound.
For standard map - low/med settings I can play reasonably well. If I go for a larger map, I get serious lag, especially during or after any ingame movies (trade screen, or wonder completion). This seems to be a common problem.
My system is just over a year and a half old, and I figure it wouldn't hurt to do a few upgrades so I can play a little more smoothly. I plan on picking up a cheap sound card (Soundblaster 7.1 or something), mainly because I have more sound related problems than anything else.
I can easily pick up some more ram, either 2*512 or for a little more money 2*1GB. I am not sure whether this will solve my lag problems. Unfortunately I went cheap on the vid card when I bought the system (at the time it was a big price jump to the next better card). And if I upgrade the card now, I will also have to upgrade my MB (as it doesn't appear to support PCI express). I think that would be more than I am willing to spend, however, I think I could budget it at some point.
Anyway, I would like to play the game at medium settings, and any size map, if anyone has any suggestions on what I might change, I am all ears.
