"Lag" when entering or leaving the city production menu

This mostly happens when the age progress is about 60 to 70 percent, so it might be connected to the number of cities or already existing buildings. The game "stutters" when I enter the city production menu to build the next object. When I save the game, then load that save, the game runs smoothly for at least several turns before the "lag" comes back. I have already tried some things but so far without success:
  • I lowered the graphic settings. My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super, so it's "outdated". But on the other hand, the game runs completely fine for about two thirds of an age or after loading a save, and I could not detect any other graphics problems (even on highest settings) except that issue with the production menu.
  • I disabled the mods and then re-enabled them one by one. I am only using the "usual" UI mods that many people use. After a certain time, the "stuttering" production menu came back even without activated mods.
  • After I could not find any cause for the problem, I even uninstalled the whole game and then re-installed it. Also no effect on the problem.
I remember that some months ago, there was a similar problem with the game that was reported by many players, and they fixed it in a patch. But I could find no further reports on that issue over the last weeks, so I want to ask here: Does anybody have similar problems? Any suggestions on how to fix this (apart from buying a new computer)?

I can confirm I've been experiencing similiar problems, thought it might've been the bigger map sizes but I noticed that UI in general seems to perform worse the longer a session lasts, this is particularly annoying in Modern Age.

Feel like the game refreshes the UI far too more frequently than it should, often caushing refreshes when it's not needed (why does every unit banner refreshes per every player's turn as an example?)

Hmm...hardly any feedback, so not many people seem to have this problem. I wish I knew at least which component of my system is responsible for this specific problem. Everything else runs fine, so I will try to avoid spending money on new hardware at this point.

I get this too. I'm sure it isnt hardware as quitting the game and loading the save again see's performance back to turn 1 performance. Then over the next 60-70 turns performance gradually degrades until it crashes again, and then is fine after reloading. I'm playing on a i7 14700k, 64GB RAM and RTX 3060- dropping graphics settings does not help, and even then at reasonably decent ones my GPU isnt under high (50-70%) load. No cooling issues either.

It feels like its a Civ app memory management issue and once the memory used by Civ 7 goes over 5GB used it struggles. Restarting sees its use drop down to 2GB then it creeps up again.

Support have been useless, Id already done all the usual stuff, update drivers, remove mods, reinstall etc etc but they got me to do it again- after that they were getting so desperate to blame my system that they suggested my internet speed was the issue (my internet speed is fine), and even then a SINGLE PLAYER game should not be crashing because because of any connectivity issues to 2K or Firaxis (seriously WTH, is this anti-piracy software f**king with legit owners?). Clear support are briefed to push it back onto players rather than collect any meaninful information that might help fix this issue.

A shame (underestatement, I'm pretty f**ked off) as I'm a founders edition owner, enjoy the game but these technical issues and the lack of any decent support are disgraceful. I won't be rushing into buying any further DLC.

FIX YOUR GAME.

Yes, there's a significant memory leak issue in the Exploration and Modern ages. It's not related to any mods, it's something in the base game.

This problem continues to exist, even after all these patches. It disrupts my enjoyment far more than anything connected to the game mechanics like age transitions.
Hey Firaxis: Your game doesn't have to be perfect for me, but at least do something that I can play without reloading a save every 20 turns.
