LAN multiplayer between Mac and Windows

Hi

My friends and i wants to play Civilization 5 against each other. They are all running on Windows through Steam. I am running on Mac from Mac App Store.

Is it possible for us to LAN? Or will our different OS's cost problems? Will it help if i switch to play Civ on my Mac through Steam instead? Will problems like Hamachi help?
