Hey guys.

Ive been having problems with my laptop and usb mouses. I've gone through about 5 in the last 2 years. They do get dropped a bit taking the laptop places, however, most of them just seem to die for no reason. I'll just be using them normally and then they'll die. I don't think its anything wrong with the usb ports, because a new mouse will work fine (for a while) but the old mouses won't work on other computers.

Once plugged back in, the broken mouses give me a 'power surge on hub port' message.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A power surge is the kind of thing that will permanently break an electronic part like a mouse. Either the usb port is prone to power surges, or the voltage is too high, so that normal fluctuations can make the voltage go above the tolerances of the mouse.

Is there anyway i can stop that from happening?

Get a new usb controller which means a new motherboard for a laptop.
