Large/Huge maps

Hi all,

I am new to this forum, i have played all the CIV games right from the first and have loved each and every one of them, i had the CTD problem as did everyone else by the sound of it, the patch fixed that problem and it loads and runs fine, however i picked a huge map to play on, and having played the game for ages and only just revealed most of the map, i noticed its tiny??? i had been playing this game for quite a while but from the start i wondered why there were so many other Civ's near me at the start, so i saved and then started a new game and used the map editor thingy to have a look, and again its tiny!!!!!!!! you could probably get 6-7 cities from top to bottom and maybe 12-13 from left to right??? this is not a huge map, its not even large, its the size of CivIII's smallest maps????? i have tried all the largest map sizes and it still appears tiny, continents, archipaleago etc etc, has anybody else had this problem??? i am most disappointed with the game now, i was getting into it and then found out i am on 1 of 2 tiny continents??? this cant be right???

If this is infact right and i am playing on a huge map then i must say i am unbelievabley disappointed with this game to say the least.

If anyone could help me i would be most grateful.

The maps in Civ 4 are very similar in size to the corresponding sizes from Civ 3. Judging from your description of the number of cities, with normal spacing this is probably a small map. Huge maps are a lot bigger than this. I've no idea what could be causing this problem though.

I thought the same thing the first time I played.

Then I saw that as I explored more parts of the map it expanded my field of view.

Try this.

Load a huge game from scratch.

Pan around thru the dark it seems to be small.

Now open world builder and hit reveal all terrain.

This should give you the whole map to move in.
