Late game military units

Loving the game overall I'm sure great mods and patches on the way. Late game military feels a little more limited than Civ 5 though.

For nukes there need to be ICBM's that can reach any tile on the map. Also missing are the Cruise missiles from Civ 5 I used to stockpile lots of these and in real life naval vessels for instance have the ability to fire these from hundreds of miles away, I like the missile cruisers but their range is far too limited. Also haven't seen any SAM anti air units yet? Range for late game air units also seems quite restricted.

The developers seem to have been pretty unimaginative about future weaponry as well, the kind of weaponry we might expect to see in 2050 will be very different in some respects. I think taking out the giant death robots and XCom units is good as obviously they were unrealistic, but you would expect naval units to use railgun technology or lasers by then.

Finally the inclusion of missile defence units like patriots would be realistic too, to intercept both ICBM's and crusie missiles.

Hopefully some more late game units can be added in a forthcoming patch.

I like nukes the way they are personally, it is better for multiplayer diplomacy. Placing a city near your enemy and building a missile silo will inevitably lead to Cuban Missile crisis style standoffs. Jet bombers and nuclear submarines are the safest ways to deliver a nuclear payload anyway as they ensure second strike capability, limits on missile silos range emphasize their importance.

We can already intercept ICBMS and bombers, both naval and specific land units can do that.

I do agree that seeing some futuristic yet not too far fetched units be added through he future tech technology or robotics.

In terms of units the early game is missing way more than the late game: no medieval naval units or siege weapons, no renaissance cavalry, no industrial era riflemen. Personally I'd love to see the addition of a couple of more eras to the game, I very much enjoyed the addition of the great war units and techs in G&K and we could probably do with an enlightenment era as well. It would make balancing the tech tree easier and cover the gaps we currently have.

Also how awesome would it be for military engineers to build trenches?
