Its pretty late in a game, I had recently enough discovered both aluminum and oil but I had not used any. It said at one point I had 15 aluminum and something like 5 oil, then suddenly, I notice that all my aluminum and oil had disappeared. None of my iron and coal disappeared though, and it seems to be because they were the only two I had any of currently in use (factories and a swordsmen from a while ago). I checked my diplomacy and none of my oil or aluminum was being used in trade with another civ, so it isnt that. I can still see my aluminum and oil deposits in my territory, I built a mine on one of the aluminums but that hasn't fixed anything. My luxury resources are fine.

The game was going very well and I was having a blast, now Im too pissed about having zero oil or aluminum to enjoy it lol. I havent been able to find anyone else with this problem, any help would be huuuumoungously appreciated!!!

Can you post a save file? Pending review of a save file, I do have a couple of speculative thoughts/questions.

Were you getting your aluminum and oil from City-State allies? (You mention building a mine on an aluminum tile after you saw the aluminum disappear.) If so, perhaps you lost alliances with those CSs or some of those CS aluminum/oil tiles were pillaged or stolen by an AI using a citadel.

As for building a mine on an aluminum tile not resulting in a positive aluminum balance: First, are you 100% sure that the mine finished? A mine that is still a turn or two away from completion appears similar (graphically) to a completed mine.

Second (assuming that isn't the problem), if you were using aluminum from CS allies for certain purposes (e.g., hydro dams), you would be plunged into a strategic resource deficit when those sources went away. Any new aluminum you acquire is first used to eliminate that deficit before an excess is created.
