Late Ranged units Mod idea/request

The loss of ranged units (as opposed to siege units) in the late game is quite annoying, as it is perhaps mine and my friends favourite new game mechanic. A simple mod adding two new units to the post gunpowder era would remedy this and allow players to maintain a faster advance without having to turtle up to enemy cities waiting for your slow and vulnerable artillery pieces.

Mortar Crew (perhaps appearing as an upgrade to Crossbowmen after gunpowder or a little later when you get riflemen) with a ranged strength of 14 or so.

Rocketeer (later unit coming in alongside Infantry or even Mechanized Infantry) with similiar ranged strength progression or large bonuses against Armour.

You mean rocket artillery? It already exists.

OMA noobtuber. Would be interesting if somebody made that.
 
It can be done, technically, but the problem is no default unit looks even remotely like a mortar team nor a bazooka trooper. We'll have to wait till a 3D artist comes up with such things, and then there's the whole animation/effect creation process to give life to the 3D model itself.
 
Snipers for late game ranged units?
 
I guess they'd do no damage against armoured units or cities?

Archers hardly damage cities either.

Mod in a -100% attack penalty vs. tanks, but a 50% attack penalty vs. infantry promotion.
