It looks like the Peugeot horde has an excellent chance of winning this year. They are distinctly faster than the Audi R15s, and they may be able to quad-stint their tires instead of changing them every pit stop as the Audis need to do so far. The #8 Peugeot has already lapped the field due to a lucky pit stop. 24 hours is a very long race so it's obviously too early to call anything less than 3 hours into the race, but that is still a sizeable lead at such an early stage.

However, one of the factory Peugeots had a really stupid incident in pit lane as they were exiting. They collided with a Peugeot from a sister team and had to due nearly the entire 8 miles with a flat LR which subsequently destroyed the entire LR side of the car. They are now 7 laps down.

In LMP2, it looks like the Porsche RS Spyders have the advantage over the Lolas and Zyteks. In LMGT1, a Corvette is beating all the other Corvettes. LMGT2 is now Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 1-2 over the Ferrari F430 GTs in 3-9.

Live Timing And Scoring

But I must say the best part of the race coverage so far has been this Audi R8 commercial. It is the first time I had seen it on American TV:

Yes, it was. They likely would have finished 1-2-3 if it hadn't been for that stupid contact in the pits with one of the non-factory Peugeots.

I just wonder how many teams will be racing next year. Perhaps this will make Peugeot change their minds regarding racing next year...
