Leader experience points would be gained from completed games. Games would grant experience based on your civilization score or overall performance in the game.

Experience points would be leader specific and could be used to gain or enhance or customize civilization bonuses, units, governments, tech etc. Bonuses would bring some advantage but nothing game breaking or overpowered must have advantages. Something to reward players for playing the same civilization and finishing the games. For example, there are many civilizations in the game that I have not played at all due to lack of appeal to the kit the civilization offers.

Some ideas about the bonuses. The player cannot acquire all bonuses but would have to choose what to invest in. Player choices would be limited by available amount of points to invest, exclusive options, tiers, etc. Bonuses could be divided into several branches: military, technology, construction, etc. Available options to invest in could vary based on leader / civilization, and every civilization would have a different kit to play with.

Few concrete examples: Tech branch could offer a free starting tech like sailing, archery, etc. Military branch could offer the option to invest in scout or warrior: start with an extra scout or warrior 1/3, scout vision +1 and warrior 20% more attack/defense when fighting on civilization specific tile 2/3, scout vision and movement +1 and warrior +1 movement on civilization specific tiles 3/3. Could also consider adding the spearman into exclusive selection with scout and warrior. Unit bonuses would stack with unit experience bonuses. In total there would be 20 - 30 points in total to invest.
