I found out how to make a Leaderhead in 3 and I'm still working on that one, but as far as I can tell it seems to be alot easier in Civ 3 to create a whole new leaderhead.

I browsed the forum but all I got was confusion about creating a new leaderhead in Civ 4. Is there any tuturiols on how to create a leaderhead in Poser for Civ 4 that works? How do you do it?

I don't believe you can make them in poser.

For an introduction:
Civilization IV uses a 3D file format called the net immerse gamebyro file, otherwise known as a .nif. The nif itself is a geometric shape, modified in many ways to represent units, leaderheads, buildings, etc. It has components ("properties") inside of the geometric shape, such as Alpha properties (transparency), Material properties (shading), or Texturing properties. You'll find out more as you go on. What gives a .nif its texture, colors, etc. is a .dds file. A simple reskin is a modification of a dds file to change the appearance of the skin. Texturing properties in the nif determine what dds file will wrap around the 3D object. You can edit how the texture wraps around the shape in what is called UV editing.

I've written several tutorials, you can find all of them in the tutorials section here.

You'd have to rig every vertices to every bone in blender, have fun rigging 20,000 vertices...

It's still posible to create part in Poser (helm, armor, hair, etc. even a complete torso), to export it to OBJ and than rig (and the rigging will be easy), and export. If you have more rigging experience, you can create a complete leader and rig it completly, but it would require some time to rig it completly.

Hey Guys,
I am in no way smart enough to use 3d modeling for my game. I have warlords on a mac and I simply want to create static leaderheads. Quick and simple. The problem is that when I sample my mod I only see a pink screen where my character should be in the civilopedia. I am using a dds file and I am fairly certain my sizes are correct. 512x512 and 64x64. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. Please help!

Uh, man, you're resurected an old thread.
Why did you not just create a new one?

ontopic: Pink graphics mean, that civ can't find the art. -> Check, if the path to your files in the artDefines is really right, that there's no typo in the filename, or the foldername, etc.
