[GS] 'Lesser' Mods

I've used it for a couple of games, and I wouldn't call it a dramatic change, but, for me, a very satisfying small change. Why should a ziggurat or sphinx just disappear when a city changes hands?
Right, exactly. I like to envision the evolving culture of my nation as I play, and I like to incorporate parts of cities belonging to other civs that I've "absorbed" or "annexed." When I acquire a luxury, a bonus resource or a strategic resource, I like to imagine what it might look like, what place it might have in my society, how it might affect my culture. iirc, Civ IV showed the ethnicities of your population, which I thought was cool. Anyway, yeah, keeping some of the cultural artifacts of the societies I so generously invite into my benevolent confederation of nations is one of the reasons I do it in the first place.

I use (and make) tons of mods, but here are a few of the aesthetic ones I love that don't alter gameplay:

1. Leugi's Colder Tundra - reskins Tundra tiles to look a nice gray instead of pale yellow
2. Vibrant Waters - Reskins various water textures (rivers, lakes, oases, natural wonders, etc.) to look brighter and more appealing. (I made this mod)
3. Tsunami Waves and Tsunami Waves: Lite Version - increase the size and frequency of waves that crash against the coast. (I made this mod).

Here's a gif I made of the Tsunami Waves mod :)

Some non-aesthetic mods I love that don't alter gameplay are

1. More Lenses
2. Policy Change Reminder
3. Tomatekh's Historical Religions - adds tons and tons of religions for you to found so you can roleplay better :)
4. Zebenji's Additional Religions - even more religions (requires Tomatekh's mod). It adds some more historical religions but also strange and funny ones and stuff from pop culture.
4. Random Religions - makes the AI found random religions instead of their preset choices. Combined with the two above religion mods, you can get some very humorous outcomes. "Pericles has founded Satanism!" :D

Quick question about Proverbium, are the quotes voiced?

Nope, which I actually prefer. Voiceovers from a mod are (a) not going to sound like Sean Bean which is immersion breaking to me and (b) probably not have the same level of quality for performance and audio fidelity, which will also be jarring.

I prefer it that way too, because (and I may be in a minority here) I find Sean Bean's voice and accent annoying, especially after so many repeated hearings.

I won't play a game without these simple mods in place: 1 turn governors, Starting Scout & Worker, Expanded Settler vision and movement, removal of the number of religions cap (with additional religions), and more and more I seem to be absolutely sold on including the new Pantheons and Steel and Thunder additional units with the Red Mods as they just add so much more depth and FUN to the game. The visual stuff like "Civ5 looks" and the "beautiful waves mod", along with "tactical camera" I have played around with but they aren't game needed. I DO ALWAYS take off the Civ Cap for multiplayer and often "allow capitals to be razed". The inclusion of new buildable wonders and natural wonders+ are also in 90% of my games. I see the new Watch Tower being added regularly as well as the removal of restrictions for the great wall. I like the one that culture bombs too.

These last two here are HUGE. Although still applicable as a non-large scale conversion mod, but if I were to start with a scout and builder, AND I got to see many tiles around me... my early game just got so much easier!

I've tried the Expanded Initial View mod before. I enjoyed it the most with Germany. Bring on those sweet Hansa adjacencies!!

The early-early game can be tedious especially when playing on Marathon but I usually use Epic. The Added scout and worker just make it more adventure less click and wait. Also nothing is more frustrating when having to restart when that one great capital spot was just a few hexes away from view. It just leads to fewer regrets down the road.

Oh yeah, that's a good point. Normally playing on Standard (and faster), I do not find it tedious at all. But I get what you mean...

I really like Current Time of Day, which keeps the in-game graphics synced with your real world clock.

Not a released mod per se, but I also really like using a modded Camera.artdef file that lets me zoom the graphics all the way in. I believe there are mods that do something similar, but all I need is the simplicity of the modded file. I can't attach a copy of it here, apparently.
