Limiting Computer Opponents

I have played Civ 3 on someone else's computer before investing in my own copy. My friend had it somehow set up that once you started a new game, the computer automatically limited your opponents to 2 or 3 random players, and it did the same for a quick start game. How can I do this? Any ideas? Thanks

On the second setup screen, just change some of them to "none". then, when you use quick start, the AIs will not be there.
