The Windows Replacement???

We may never know. :)

I'm getting a beta next week. Supposed to be Linux but runs all windows programs. Of course it doesn't read NTFS  so I'm going to have to create another partition...and probably have to reinstall all my programs!!!'er

So maybe I'll install it on my sisters computer. ;)

Looks like a nice idea, sounds like a vaporware.
Then what about BeDows, or MacDows X, or even Solardows...

Now I just wait and see, there have been so many vaporware in the computer science history... Even the greatest do that (e.g. Adobe, 3D Realms, Bitboys and their Geforce 15 killer, etc...)

I hope not....but after I test the beta...I'll tell you what I think. :)

I was going to make a new partition for it...but if it messes up, then I may loose everything.

I'd like to get a "dumbie" machine....but I have none. :(

Noooo! You needn't a dummy pc. You just have to get Virtual PC, a PC emulator for... PC!! No kidding. First, Connectix was famous for their PC emulator on Mac but now they also released VPC for Windows. What's the point? Well it's obvious. You wanna try a lot of shareware proggies and don't want to f*.. hem, mess up your registry base, you just use this emulator. So it can't harm your main system. Look i use it also. Plus, you can have access to the net, without need to share your connection. Brilliant idea, isn't it.

Do they have an English version of it also?

looool, well guess! I can't think at any program that doesn't have a english version. Unless they don't wanna sell it over the world ;)
Of course the install is just only multilanguage and since I was not masochist (no I am not, although some people keep on saying I was :D heem never mind) I chosed the French version for the menu. Now you can install (of course) any version of windows you want, and to be more complete, ANY operating system. Even Ensemble Geoworks if you like:)
I could also install a US version of windows 98 in my French virtual pc. Ok everybody understood or I repeat more slowly :)
Btw, I use dual boot 2K/98 and the 2K version is the US Pro SP2. Win98 is french, on the other hand. Generally the original version (i.e. english) is less bugged, but for XP and 98 I heard that the French version is more bug free! Hence my choice.

I have actually tried Lindows through 2 connections of mine. It appears to work good but as you said, it doesn't recognize NTFS so I can't use it as a server at work, and I don't wanna waste re-install time at home. For a full re-install and file transfer, I usually take 3-4 days because of my HD size. It is too much hassle to re-install everytime I see a new OS that might be better.

Have you ever though of using the program Ghost by Norton. You could ghost your system and put it on a different partition. This would take up a lot of room, but would save a lot of time.
