List of changes in Warlords

Building railroads on mines and lumbermills does give +1 hammer. This is not a warlords change though, in fact it has been like that since Civ 4 v.1.0.

Oh my, how embarrassing I didn't notice that before! Thanks for clarifying :).

I'm playing 1.61 and can build forts over forests and jungle

"No, it was changed for Warlords. Siege units now always defend last, regardless of whether they are stronger than the other defenders or not."

Not true. In my games siege units also defend last regardless.

Destroyers can only be built when a civ has the Oil Resource. The Civipedia mistakenly still says Uranium can build one.

It's not mistaken, you can indeed build modern age ships (including Destroyers) with Uranium, however in order to be able to "use" Uranium you need to have researched Fission (in other words.. although you can 'see' Uranium in your city resource box it's not actually there until Fission)

Out of curiosity, if Egypt builds Stonehenge, does it build the unique Obelisks in every city or monuments? -Mike

Stonehenge for Egypt builds Obelisks in every city. Very powerful, you can assign two priests very early if you just have enough food to feed them. This increases your chances of getting religions, hence more priests, shrines, etc. See aelf's Emperor Master's Challenge on the Strategy and Tips forum. He played a religious oriented game with Rameses, going for Sankore and Spiral Minaret. Very cool stuff.

Does anyone know of a way to change the leader dialog so that it does display the leader's mood towards you? I liked it better that way, it was easier to see.

cant confirm it 100% but conbats outcomes have been further randomized.

Thanks for putting all those info togheter. There's another change, an "immortal" level between "Emperor" and "The last one" (I remember Emperor because is the level I always played, today I won my first game with WL expansions).
I have one question: warlord includes the change in combat from 1.61 version, right? It seems so to me. So, beside the Drill promotions changes and the new(warlord enabled) promotions, there's any new change about fighting? In few word, what's explained here:
http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/strategy/simple_combat.php
still be correct for warlord, right. Someone thinks first strikes mechanism changed, it is true? Hope my english is understandable enough... Whoever can, thanks for answering.

Immortal was there even in vanilla Civ. The last level is Deity.
You're right, it's a while that I'm not playing vanilla version... I start remember things that doesn't exist about it. Sorry. Actually I picked up Emperor level my first game (I wanted something hard but not impossinble, and then I still playing on that level until winning a game, than a patch or expansion cames up before I play harder level and I restart from Emperor with the patch...) so didn't care that much about what other level were called... I'll try Immortal or deity now, but I'll play emperor again when warlord patch will came out.

And yeah, changes included in 1.61 are also included in Warlords.
Thanks. And also combat - expecially, first stirkes - still the same than 1.61, no upgrades in Warlord (except GGenerals rules), right?

Stupid Question time:

Is the Permanant Alliance still availible? I can't recall seeing it in Warlords (granted I've had few ai relationships get to the defensive pact state let alone up to the Permanant Alliance stage).

The Persian unique unit the Immortal was changed from 30% withdraw (I think it was 30%, that is what it says on this site) to 10% withdraw. Went from awesome to horrible.

I don't think these have been mentioned, and they might be a result of the 1.61 patch, but I didn't notice them before loading up Warlords.

1. Great Leader names now appear in a random order. They used to appear in a (sort) of historical order, with you always getting GLs with names like Imhotep and Moses first, and as you worked through the list, you'd eventually get to modern great people, like Einstein and Wilbur Wright last...

2. The Drill promotions now apparantely help to reduce the amount of collateral damage a unit takes. I think thi begins from Drill 2, and decrease damage by 20% each...

[*] The leader dialog box no longer displays the attitude on the top of the box

Does anyone know of a way to change the leader dialog so that it does display the leader's mood towards you? I liked it better that way, it was easier to see.

I am running Warlords v 2.08 (never played the unpatched version) and it shows normally.

A couple of changes with patch 2.08 that please me :-
1. I no longer get a crash to a black screen when toggling the grid on. This used to happen about half the time before the patch.
2. I get much better control of the zoom now, instead of a hair-trigger response which would shift from cloud-level to extreme close-up if I breathed on the mouse wheel.
Hooray !

a hidden change I didn't see from Vanilla 1.61 to Warlords 2.00.

Chariots can no longer upgrade to Horse Archers, they can only Upgrade Directly to Knights.

Note Chariots can upgrade to Horse Archers in Vanilla Civ4.
