List of changes in Warlords

It's not mistaken, you can indeed build modern age ships (including Destroyers) with Uranium, however in order to be able to "use" Uranium you need to have researched Fission (in other words.. although you can 'see' Uranium in your city resource box it's not actually there until Fission)

I assume that if you mine uranium prior to Fission, you still get the usual bonuses, no?

There's something I just noticed. I'm not sure if it's in Warlords or the 2.08 Patch. The leader images for Kublai Khan and Qin Shi Huang appear to have been switched.

Is it true that trebuchets make catapults obsolete now? If so, then I find it a bit annoying since trebs are weaker than cats out in the field. Trebuchets are more specialised for sieges whereas cats are more versatile and can be employed in counter-offensive roles on home turf. And I haven't yet mentioned the higher cost of the trebs (60 for a treb, 40 for a cat).

On a similar note, it's a shame cannons obsolete trebuchets too since trebuchets get 25% bombard (cannons only 20).

canons do obsolete trebuchets, but trebs don't obsolete catapults.
Cats still deserve their surname "disposapults"

My mistake.

Anyway, it's great they put trebuchets in the game. They were sorely needed.
Do they actually dish out 25% city defense damage each turn they bombard, because I swear I've had to use more than 4 of them to get a city to 0% before? Do damaged units do less bombard damage perhaps?

You might have been up against walls or castles, which weaken barrage damage as of 2.08.

That would have been it. Finally I might have a reason for using these buildings.
Does 25% reduction to bombard damage mean units that ordinarily do 20% damage (eg. cannons) do only 15%? So you'd need ten cannons to bring a city's defenses to zero in one turn if it had a wall and castle?

Nice signature btw.

That and the free trade route from castles... for a handful of turns until you research Economics and obsolete it :undecide:. Well, if I recall correctly, it also increases your Power rating so that you can dissuade the aggressive civs a bit more from attacking you.

Not sure... I haven't experimented yet.

If an AI asks you to go to war, can you negotiate with them now? It would be nice to ask for a tech and actually get it if an AI needs your help in a war.

I know plenty have complained about this issue (for and against), but I'm curious if it's in Warlords.

Nope, it has not been added yet. I heartily agree, and I would also like to see negotations for other AI chicanery like asking you to stop trading with another Civ, or asking you for a free tech (when they have something you could ask for in return).

  • Heroic Epic requires a level 5 unit (as oposed to 4 previously) and West Point level 6 (as oposed to 5)

    What does that mean?

  • I think this has been changed back to 4 and 5 with the latest 2.08 patch.

Essentially this means that these two wonders cannot be built until one of your units has been promoted such that they are a level 4 or 5. The unit doesn't have to live long, it just needs to happen once, and they are unlocked for the rest of the game.

A unit gains a level for each promotion you give it. The level is displayed with the rest of the information of the unit, just look around for it.

I have a quick question, um, I just bought Warlords today and I noticed that the civs are the same although in the book it says they changed. I also wanted to know about these new techs like Divination it doesn't require a prev. tech but I can't see it when I go to start my research.

Some of the old leaders, but not all of them, had their traits changed. Also, I'm 99% sure that there are no new technologies in the Warlords expansion. If you mean Divine Right, you need both Theology and Monarchy to begin researching it.

Does the AI still sit still and rarely attack and sit on their cities still?

Will the warlords expansion pack be included on the Beyond the Sword expansion pack...or is it still necessary to buy both?

B/c i lost my Civ IV game and once I find it I want to get Warlords...or I can wait till July to get BtS if itll have the same stuff on it as Warlords does plus the extra stuff

I'm sure this question has been asked before...so I'm sorry if you find this question repetitive

: Unless they release a "Civ4 Gold" or something along those lines (which they most likely will), then I would think you would have to buy BtS seperately.

What civs were added? Or what leaders?
