Ok, I’ve heard of CDs disintegrating while spinning in your drive, but what happened after I put a low quality CD-R in my old 4 yr old computer and forgot it there, is plain weird.

Ok, so I try to transfer some files between my two computers, when I put the CD in my old comp, I transferred the files, and then forgot it there. When I took it out a few hours later, it had two spots on it, you could see through them. On the edges of the spots was kind of a blackish color. I thought that when the CD had stopped, the laser just kept on and literally burned the CD.
This is weird enough but when I put away the disk, and then opened it again one day later, the spots had grown a few millimeters! :eek: And there appeared four more tinny dots on the surface later as well...

To tell you the truth, this has never happened before and I have never heard of such stories, but the moral of the story is to never put LOW quality CDs in an old computer. Good thing I don't really need the CD anymore. And just a note, the CD was NEW.

Maybe I’ll get a picture of the CD and show it here sometime, so you guys can see.

:dubious:

I suggest you get some quality CD's... those'll wreck your CD drive before long.

I've had a similar experience once with a burned CD. I had it in the CD-player of my g/f and it burned a few holes in the CD as well...

Yeah, exactly the same thing probably.

@Ankka
I don't use nor do I have any of the same type anymore. :)

But aren't the new CD burners more effective, having a more powerful laser ray? So would it burn more easily on a new or an old CD drive?
