LK26 - World Map

I have completed the research and created the country of Brazil by removing Japan. Brazil is actually a powerhouse Civ. South America is loaded with rivers creating a ton of commerce and easy size12 growth. I have a test game up to 1000 AD going with a lot less drag between turns eliminating the cities in tundra.

This test proved no problem with city names like Geelong. A mistake left Brazil "Samurai", and should be fixed next release.
The objective of this game is to make it to infantry. The special Brazil unit = BEF (Brazilian Expeditionary Force - WW2) - an improved infantry unit. I want to make sure that the unit works and trips a golden age. At that point I will end the game.

There will be a LK## game to play Brazil after play testing is completed. Now if you have free time, and want to speed up play testing. - I need more test runs before it is played:
1) Replay Brazil to Chivalry - make sure they get knights this time.
2) Play America as I changed the uu to USMC - an improved marine. This is a build NO wonders game and attack with the USMC making sure to trip a golden age.
3) I changed the upgrade paths, so play China and make sure riders upgrade to Cavalry.
If you have the time for one of these, let me know. When the above 3 tests pass, the next world map game will start.;)
Of course - if there are still 5 wm players out here. I suspect this crew would play, but #5 is a question mark.

Lee, count me in for the next LK## beat the world game.

Also, if you need a play tester, I have some free time right now.

I will post the following files when I get home tonight.
The batch file to copy animations.
The current "read me" file.
The current bic to start the game.

I will assign #2 and #3 tonight.
#1 should be quick and I can finish after the infantry attack test unless DS joins the testing. The tech tree is up to Printing Press / Education / Chemistry on the current game.

FYI - I also have an idea to create a power in Western Africa removing Rome. There is some nice terrain down there - trouble is, I have to figure out a significant power in WA. Brazil was easy - clearly a major player in SA.

One downfall of no tundra cities - domination is IMPOSSIBLE. Military win is via conquest.

Of course, there is also the option to be really weird and culturally dominate :crazyeye:

V5 - Playtest showed issue with Tundra. Forest on Tundra = forest.
To limit cities, I must make all Tundra without forest.
Minor improvement to Russian starting position.
The bad thing of stealing a country - I left Brazil with Samuria - switching to regular knights.
Switch America to regular fighter ***TEST*** JJ
***TEST*** Brazil regular knight
***TEST*** China upgrade riders >> calvalry Meldor
Added new culute levels: 1.5 to 1 = very impressed, 2.5 to 1 = Great Admirers

V4 - Slightly improved the Greek starting position.
Removed Japan as a civ.
With the elimination of Japan, removed game and 3 goody huts near China.
Added another barb camp near China.
Japna is replaced by Brazil - Industrious and Relgious.
Goverment Leader = Dom Pedro de Alcântara (the emperor when Brazil was recognized as an independent country)
Great Leaders:
Gen. Eurico Gaspar Dutra (ww2 general)
João Baptista de Oliveira Figueredo (Brazilian general and politician, president of Brazil (1979-85)).
Cândido Mariano da Silva Rondon (Brazilian explorer and founder of the Indian Protection Service. A major in the army. The Brazilian state of Rondônia is named after him.)
Jose Joaquim da Silva Xavier (the leader of the Inconfidência Mineira, a movement against Portuguese rule in late 1780's)
José Bonifácio de Andrada e Silva (known as the "Patriarch of Independence" in Brazil)
Unique Unit = Bef (Brazilian Expeditionary Force) from WWII.
A 7/11 infantry unit. ***TEST*** LAK
Upgrades to Mech Inf. ***TEST*** LAK
>>>> Cities are NO longer allowed in Tundra . <<<

V3 - Deleted 3 wheat around India to weaken the position.
Deleted 2 cattle around China to weaken the position.
Change the leader of Australia to Menzies and setup as a male.
Middle / Industrial age ship movement up by 1: Caravel, Frigate, Galleon, Ironclad
Modern Era ship movement up by 2: Transport, submarine, destroyer, battleship, Aegis Cruiser, Nuke Sub
Special: Carrier up by 3 - these ships were just as fast as battleships, if not faster.
F15 is removed - new USA unique unit USMC: 10 attack, 8 defense. ***TEST*** JJ

V2 - Added Australia. After playtest, improved the Australlian landmass slightly.
Improved the Babylonian position by removing point-blank barb camp, slight terrain improvement.
Placed a horse into America.

V1 - Took a copy of Marla Singer's Map, and cut back on coast squares that are out of reach for the sake of domination. Removed several Ice only islands.

Testing assigned:
Jersey Joe - Play as America, avoid tripping the golden age with wonders.
Build the USMC and verify it trips a golden age.
Play until at least rocketry and verify normal fighter.

Meldor - Play as China, simply make sure you can build horseman, upgrade knight, upgrade cavalry

I wonder how the AI will do with Brazil - it does need a massive investment in workers.

PS - For fastest testing, try to avoid war as that takes up much more time.

1828 AD (6th and final)

The only test left is to make sure I fixed Brazil with regular knight, then cavalry.

You should be able to get 100% of SA for Brazil.

My game is up to 1100AD and going...

Way to Go ! :goodjob:

I enjoyed the game Lee, especially having to worry about and stop the other civs from launching a spaceship.

Dark Sheer,

How goes the play testing with Brazil?

Meldor completed his task - China makes it to cavalry fine.

I am up to the industrial age, researching Electricty.

Jersey_Joe test isn't critical to use playing the next World game. Of course, I do want the answer.

Your test is critical - No new world game until it is done.

I just made contact with Asia so tech should start moving faster now. I assume US marines are from the same tech as normal marines.

Testing status:
1) China to cavalry - Completed by Medlor
2) Brazil to Bef - i/p by LKendter (found I needed to remove regular Infantry). I am just waiting to trip a GA.
3) Bef to Mech Inf - I/P LKendter
4) Brazil again, to Knights - Dark Sheer status is unknown
5) USA to USMC - I/P Jersey_Joe
6) USA to Jet Fighter - I/P Jersey_Joe

@JJ - Yes, the USMC is tripped by Amphib Warfare - same as regular Marines. I am curious, when did you find Asia. I contacted about 300 AD. If you contacted Brazil, any problems trading with them?

I can check on the date of contact when I get home tonight, it was about the same time you got contact, maybe a few turns earlier.
I bought contact with Australia from Brazil. Only problem I have trading with Brazil is they want to much :D I did get a couple of demands for tribute from Brazil.

When I go to diplo screen, I see Lizbeth's picture for Australia then if I start negotiations with Australia I see Bismark's picture for Mendes (sp?) is this correct?

@Medlor
Dark Sheer appears to have disappeared. If he doesn't show up soon - would you want to do the quick Brazil test to knights?

@Jersey Joe
Australia should NOT should Lizbeth's picture in the Diplo screen.
Another issue for me to fix.

Brazil demanding tribute.

On my test, we should know soon. The Bef is approaching the borders of the only country I am fighting - the Zulu. They declared war on me after once of there cities flipped to me :crazyeye:

Testing status:
1) China to cavalry - Completed by Medlor
2) Brazil to Bef - Completed by LKendter (found I needed to remove regular Infantry).
[dance] BEF Trips a golden age!

3) Bef to Mech Inf - I/P LKendter
4) Brazil again, to Knights - Meldor
5) USA to USMC - I/P Jersey_Joe
6) USA to Jet Fighter - I/P Jersey_Joe

Lee,

Halfway to knights. Something funny happened though. I sent the first warrior on a beeline for the choke point in Panama. When he got there, no sign of the Aztecs, so he proceded to Yucatan. Went all the way to there capital. Backed off to the narrows leading to Central America, unfortunately it is 35+ turns to get there and the neck is three squares wide.
I fortified the first warrior on a mountain there and sent one more warrior and a spear in that direction (the third warrior built and the first spear). They were going to take a while. Then the worst happens...a settler/warrior pair from Aztecs headed for the Yucatan. Can't block with a single warrior so I either attack or move back to block at Panama. Attack it is.....I win and get two free helpers, who start roading their way back to the motherland.
Here comes two impi's, the warrior fortifies and wins both times, neither impi retreats (isn't nice to see it happen to the AI for a change). My wrrior only only has two HPs but he is now elite, promoting after both battles. He fortifies and waits for help.
Since impi's couldn't get him off of the moutain, Montie sends an archer, with an attack of two our guy might be in trouble. Rather than letting the archer attack, I un fortify and attack the archer and win. Back to fortifying and waiting for help.
About 5 turns later, Montie decides to try a combined arms attack,
sending 1 archer and 1 impi in a stack. I unfortify, attack and cause the impi to retreat but can do nothing for the archer. I contact Montie and see if he is interested in peace. He gives me 97g for peace. Warrior goes back to waiting for help.
Second settler appears with a spear, and help is still about 20 turns away. My warrior begins to dance with them. He steps down onto the only close plains square and the settler decides that the hill on the other side of the moutain is better. The warrior then steps up on the moutain (I thought I might attack the city if they built it and take a chance with the warrior against a spear before it could fortify). They changed their mind and start for the plains square. Rinse and repeat until they decide on one turn to step into a different square and I am again faced with the choice of attacking or steping back. Help is still a good 6-7 turns away. A quick look at the diplo screen shows peace is up, so attack it is....I win and get two more helpers.
Montie must have been getting nervous when he didn't hear from the first group and sent a second settler but it only had an archer as an escort, two more helpers.
Two turns before help could get there, Montie sends two impi and an archer to get rid of the thorn in his side. Again, at the last minute, I unfortify and attack, killing one of the impi's. I again dial up Montie and see if he is interested in peace, low and behold he gives me 52g to stop killing his settlers.
Two turns later the help arrives and the Yucatan is blocked (at least until mapmaking).
By the time this little bit of fun was over, I had 10 cities up and running, with 4 of them producing nothing but settler/spear pairs and had built the Collossus in the capital. Montie only had one city besides his capital and had lost three settlers to give us 6 free workers. All done with one single warrior with a really big....axe.

Well if you are fighting ZULU impi's in Central America, then something very funny happened.

Sorry, replace that with Jag's. Tech has been really slow. I am the tech leader and I am currently performing an archer rush of Aztecs in 1000 BC. In retrospec I should have beelined for mapmaking. When we play this for real that will be a key tech. We can not stay isolted as 4 civs while the rest of the world leaves us behind. Especially with China in such a strong position.
