:satan: GA ending, and multiple cities building troops
Cash rushing military in 1 shield cities to get us more military.
I wonder what all those troops will do. :devil2:

Just a heads up that I might not be able to catch the game after you LK, looking like a very busy week. Give me 24 hours and if I haven't responded, just skip.

Didn't get much time over the weekend to play. I am working on 1435 AD, and the turns just got longer. War started with Argentina, got a leader for army #3 and pentagon is building. We have a defensive 3-rifleman army now. They have nasty defense - I had to kill **5** rifleman in the incense city, and 15+ cavalry have barely dented Salta.

Over 1/2 hour for the inter-turn isn't helping either....

Hopefully final 5 report tonight or tomorrow.

Not at all - I have done a massive forest clearing in the north - got semi-productive cities to finish buildings quite a few turns earlier. Plus 10 shields takes help to rush military from the corrupt wastelands.

1425 AD - I am happy to report that all of our mainland cities now have a rifleman defender. My next goal is to get some spare rifleman.

(I) - Our golden age ends. :(

1430 AD - What do you know - Australia suddenly has gpt. I ship them corporation for $75/turn. It is GPT overload as I ship corporation to the Zulu for $6 and $67/turn.

1435 AD - Now you really didn't think the game would stay peaceful, did you?

The first target is the cities they have in Alaska. Forces are sent to attack those cities next round. We already have improved our worker force by 5 workers.
Washington is back, and builds army #3 so that we can build the Pentagon. Durango is switched to the Pentagon that is due is 7 turns.

I hope the northern incense city isn't a sign of how tough Argentina will be. I had to kill 5 riflemen in a remote city. The good news is the marketplace stayed intact.

The glue factory has plenty of stock, but we do manage to take Salta. I single hp rifleman ate a precious elite in that city. This city comes nicely developed with market, courthouse, bank, police station and 3 nearby workers. :D

(I) France and Greece sign an alliance against Russia.
The Iron Works is completed in Gurupi.
We are now fighting Argentina in a GA. They had a victorious Gaucho.

1440 AD -
We capture an Argentinean city in Alaska. We kill 4 Iroquois units that were hiding behind that city. We get another city in Canada.

The focus is South America is to kill the Gaucho stack by Arequipa. With the number of 1 hp victories we got, I am glad the stack of cannons is building up.

World map trading is final dying off, as there is not much map left to explore. :(

Egypt already beat us to Sanitation. :(

(I) - I really started a Russian smack down. China and Greece ally versus Russia.
Totally meaningless, but Brazil and Songhai sign a peace treaty.
Egypt and China ally vs. Germany.
Australia and China sign a peace treaty.
France and China ally versus Persia.

Unreal - Porto Velho get hit by disease.

1445 AD -
We raze the Argentinean city by Bathhurst Island. That area was just too crowed.
Once again the focus is South America is to kill the stack by Arequipa. This time it is mainly riflemen.
We capture Bahia Blanca that is promptly renamed to Curitiba. I really like the job Argentina has done with these cities - Marketplace, Bank, Courthouse and Harbor.
Santa Cruz is captured with Courthouse, Stock Exchange and 2 workers.
The poor quality of the Argentine rail-net stops me from going after another city. I know what the workers need to do next turn.

I've missed the chance to be evil:
I sign Brazil to Alliances vs. Russia and Argentina.
I sign peace with the Iroquois, and then sign the same two alliances.
I hope there ship is near one of these civs, and will die.

I ship furs to France for $58, wm and $12/turn. France is not the threat this game.
$188/turn is a rip off for Espionage, but I buy it from Greece anyhow. I want to build the spy agency so that we can get the AI to declare war. Durango swaps to Intelligence Agency, and Kansas City to The Pentagon.

(I) - Australia and Greece sign an MPP.
Australia and Greece ally vs. Russia.

1450 AD - Posadas is captured, and with it Argentina lost their silk source. I wonder how much longer they can keep a democracy going.
We also capture Porto Alegre

Germany suddenly has cash, so I sell him factories for a marginal price of $45/turn and $50.

I decide to roll the dice and spend $3434 for an immediate steal versus Egypt. I figure it is a win / win scenario. We now have Electricity. We can know irrigate the desert by Quito, Barinas, and Lima. These cities are very close to the palace and are well worth improving. :D
The deal favors the Songhai, but they are the only civ that need Electric, and who has Sanitation.
France gets the rights to Sanitation for $51/turn.

I switch a few cities to hospital. I don't want to do too many, as we need to keep the cavalry flowing.

I start Scientific Method at 30% for ToE in 11 turns. Meldor can pick the pre-build location during his turns. With the AI priorities for tech this should still give us plenty of time. I want to keep the gpt coming as it has been great for troop rushing.

Summary:
No peace with Russia until after the alliances is done. We really need the ability for allies for awhile longer. AW world map would be crazy, if not impossible.

I don't think peace with Russia makes sense at all. We can take those Siberian cities and get a foothold on the other land mass. That foothold would include a permanent source of dyes. :D Also, it is 6 squares from Nome and works great for a transport point.

Once we get the right to spies - plant and get caught by Egypt. Then start an anti-Egypt dog pile. They are the tech leader and need to be beat down.

War weariness is hitting hard in cities without police stations / cathedrals. We really need to complete those before military.

You can play up to 10 turns per round - STRICT 24 hours got it. We are in the time consuming phase. Please report at least a partial status every 48 hours.

Rename requests:
When captured
San Luis to Antofagasta
Cordoba to Santa Fe
Jujuy to Montevideo

OK - have fun, hurt Argentina big time, and get us a leader. Set meldor up for ToE, then Hoover rush. :D
Make sure you get a palace prebuild for ToE going during your early turns.

We can drop back to token science after this - 40 turns on Radio. If we don't trade Electronics we may get a monopoly tech. :D

Inherited Turn: 1450 AD
Pre-build spot selected: Gurupi will finish Cathedral next turn, and has 60 shields, which will give us the needed shields the same turn ToE is researched.

IBT:
Zulu and France sign peace
Songhai and Greece sign alliance vs China
Argentinian Frigate sinks an Ironclad
Argentinian Gaucho kills rifleman in San Juan, and redlines one

Turn 1:
Caracas: Police -> Library
Gurupi: Cathedral -> Palace (prebuild)
Coro: Cathedral -> Police
Reno: Factory -> Police
Maraba: Cathedral -> Cav
Salt Lake City: Factory -> Police
Ottawa: Coal Plant -> Cav
Lansdowne Houes: Police -> Courthouse
Bogota: Police -> Cathedral

Make landfall at Formosa
Kill Argentinian intruders in mountains near Bolivia, getting us Lee :)
A 1 hp musketman manages to kill of 2 (!) Cavs!
Attack Cordoba, losing 1 cav and killing 3 infs before taking it. Renamed to Santa Fe01
Attack Jujuy, losing 3 cav, redlining 2 cav and killing 3 inf before taking it. Renamed to Montevideo
Sell maps for 58g

I intend to start taking the northwestern cities now, but it will take some time traversing the Andes mountains. Buenos Aires is within strike distance and should fall soon. I am holding back our Elites and saving Lee for Hoover dam, and instead focusing on promoting our veterans. Sending Galleons to Nome to launch an invasion, but New Hyderabad will most likely be razedd (size 1, no visible culture), and a new city wll be put on cultural pressure from Sicyon.

killing 3 infs
Please tell me you mean rifles.

Sending Galleons to Nome to launch an invasion, but New Hyderabad will most likely be razed
I don't expect the actual invasion until Argentina is gone. But I know it takes awhile to build enough ships up. I would send one of our spare settlers that way.

=============================

Deep thoughts - by former president LKendter

1) The stack of galleons and ironclads near Greenland was to gather all the troops rushed in Greenland.

2) 2800 dollars = 9 rushed cavalry / rifleman / ships a turn. More if some of the rushes are cannon, or have forest chop help.

3) Our workers in Canada are not done until every single Tundra square has been forest chopped. I'd shaved a lot of turns off of infrastructure in the semi-productive cities. The hopeless corrupt cities even benefit by getting closer to a military unit being complete. One forest chop saves $40 toward rushing the military unit.

4) I hope it is easy to figure out what the troops on the ship by Formosa are for. Amazing what spare cash can do.

5) If peace is signed - well let's just say I still have a few friends in high places...

6) We can't build enough cannons - they are already helping with Argentina. With our cash flow we can upgrade quite a few a turn to artillery when it is invented.

7) Keep the ships flowing toward Nome, Alaska. This will be our transport force to enter Siberia.

8) Enjoy the CIA. Let us see if Egypt will declare war over a spy. We need to have the tech leader beat up by all our future allies. ;)

=============================

A secret message for he who follows Tarkeel.
A) Toe - AT, Electronics, horde Electronics and 40-turn on Radio.
B) Yes, flight will be nice. However, we want to get our foothold in Siberia long before then.

=============================

For everyone:
All those troops in Panama are not a crazy leader. If our rail-net got hit down there is would really hurt us. Those troops should never move.

Response from current C-in-C Tarkeel:
Rifles yes, but they are still foot soldiers! :P

1) Already full, and another online next round :)
2) Have rushed some infrastructure. and have spare cash to go around. Greenland has rushed.
3) Never stop chopping! Deforestation initiated.
4) Troops landed, expect it to fall next round.
5) Peace? Where? ;)

Was mainly to inform you that objective #1 was swiftly secured. Expect to have Argentina dead or begging for mercy within 10 rounds.

One question though, is pollution cleanup automation allowed?

One question though, is pollution cleanup automation allowed

I will use an occasional Shift-P to locate the pollution. I then move all units that way. I won't use massive Shift-P during war-time. I have lost to many workers cleaning up pollution at the edge of the war zone.

Another small update:

IBT:
Egypt and Greece sign alliance vs Russia

Our forces assault Formosa, redlining 1 cav and losing 1.
Buenos Aires is next, redlining 3 cav, losing 5 cav and killing 4 rifles, gaining 2 elites before capturing it

War weariness strikes, make do with some clowns and rushed cathedrals. Not worth the 200gpt mongolia wants for dyes, which is still cheaper then 10% luxuries.
Renegotiate silks with Greece: They now pay 40gpt + 13g.

IBT:
Redline 2 counterattacking Gauchos.
India and Russia sign peace.

Turn 3:
Salvador: Cathedral -> Barracks
Columbus: Hospital -> Cav
Jackson: Hospital -> Cav
Atlantic City: Police -> Hospital
Dallas: Hospital -> Cav

Fort Nelson: Market -> Bank
Churchill: Library -> Cathedral
Baker Lake: Market -> Bank
Port Radium: Market -> Bank

Attack Mar del Plata redlining 1 cav and kill 3 rifle before taking it.
Something funny seemed to happen here.. Looks like I managed to bombard away the Palace in Mar del Plate, and now it is in Rosario instead? Strange.
Bombard Parana, and attacki redlining 1 cav, killing 3 rifle before taking it.
Attack San Luis, losing 3 cav, redlining 2 cav and killing 2 rifle and 2 gaucho.
Attack Amiens, killing 1 spear and taking it.

Sigh... Manage to misclick, and sell incense to China for 40g :(

IBT:
Babylon and France sign alliance vs Persia
Redline 2 counterattacking Gauchos
Egypt and Persia sign alliance vs Babylon

Mongols and Egypt sign alliance vs Babylon
Songhai and Egypt sign alliance vs Germany

Turn 4:
Caracas: Library -> Cav
Durango: Intel -> Hospital
Mexicali: Barracks -> Cav
Gillam: Hospital -> Cav
Belem: Factory -> Police
Fort McMurray: Cathedral -> Stock Exchange
Salluit: Market -> Aqueduct
Nome: Cathedral -> Walls

Ready to plant spy in Egypt, but at this point they are paying us about 600gpt for a few more turns. Egypt is already in a few wars in the area, and I plan to sell Military Tradition to Babylon rather cheap, so they are less of a walkover for Egypt. Should we taunt them into war now, or wait a bit till they have repaid some more debt?

Also, production queue symbol for Stock Exchange is wrong for me, something in the mod perhaps?

That is certainly possible. This game started from original Civ and had stock exchange added.

=============================

Should we taunt them into war now, or wait a bit till they have repaid some more debt?

We may as well let them repay their debt.

=============================

Once cities build hospitals - they won't survive without cathedrals and should get colisuems.

You have my sympathies, slugging through all those rifles. It is a timeconsuming task.
Grimjack

Turn 4:
Attack San Luis, killing 2 Gauchos before taking it.
Attack Tucuman, redlining 3 cav and killing 3 rifle before taking it.
Attack La Plata, losing 2 cav and killing 3 rifle, getting 1 promotion before taking it.
Los an Ironclad attacking an Argentinian Frigate

Sell Babylon Military tradition for 23gpt+72g
Renegotiate Incense to Greece, from 32 gpt to 40gpt + 13g
Sell silks to France for 17gpt+2g

IBT:
Mongolia and Greece sign alliance vs Russia
Kill a counter attacking Gaucho, Argentina lands troops near
Babylon and Russian sign trade embargo against us
Brazil and Russia sign peace
Russian Ironclad sinks on of our Ironclads.
Salvador FLIPS to Brazil! We lose 1 rifle and pyramids :(

Turn 5:
Reynosa: Hospital -> Harbor
Posadas: Temple -> Market
Mazatlan: Police -> Cathedral
San Juan: Temple -> Market
Colima: Cathedral -> Library
Salt Lake City: Police -> Hospital
Santa Cruz: Temple -> Market
Lansdowne House: Courthouse -> Hospital
Reawanuck: Aqueduct -> Courthouse

The main problem isn't mincing rifles, but the minute it takes on capturing a city, and the 45 min between turns ;) It takes about 2 hours pr turn now. I should be able to put finish it by wednes/thursday at the latest.

Brazil is still around??? :mad: Did they ever establish another city somewhere? Or is there still a settler floating around? We should have had quite a few of our own ciitizens in there by now. That is a freaky flip, considering our Capitol is fairly close and our Culture is pretty significant.

Keep up the tough work with the Argentines! :goodjob:
