i downloaded the latest mod for gotm and also vanilla game41.
tried to load up the game but wont work. says 'game41.sav invalid save file'

as far as i can tell i have followed the instructions about copy pasting files into art etc. but no luck.

please explain what i must do, if you know thanks.
i am running original disc of civilzationIII not conquest or ptw

Are you trying to play this on a PC version?

Invalid save file most likely means that you accidentally downloaded the PTW version of the start file, or perhaps the downloaded file was corrupt. Invalid save file won't be due to the GOTM mod pack.
