Last night I was trying to get Blender to work by following this guide, and I finally got to the point I was able to import/export NIF models. That was pretty awesome, cause it means I am now able to mod just about everything in the game.
So, I go to load up the game to do said modding.... And it gets to the "Init Python" stage and just sits there.
Now, in the process of setting up Blender to use NIFs, I installed quite a few Python related bits and pieces. I attempted to un-install a few of them, but haven't been able to fix Civ yet. I re-installed BtS, even though the problem existed for normal Civ4 as well, and still no fix.
A search of the forums only reveals people who get a crash and failure to Init Python. But my system never gets to the point of a crash. It just sits there. And most all of those posts were for newly installed BtS, where mine is after I have been capable of playing for quite some time.
EDIT: I went for a complete re-installation of Civ, rather than just of BtS. Worked for me to solve the problem.
