it appears i'm the only one having this problem, but since i installed the patch yesterday none of my games saved under previous versions of BtS will load. it starts to load them and then the whole program shuts down after flashing an error message for a split second. i think it says something like "folder unable to compress..." but it's really gone so quickly i haven't been able to fully read it even after trying several times.

none of the games i'm trying to load are mods or scenarios.

otherwise everything seems to be working, and it will load games saved since i installed the patch.

i installed the patch through the game's update feature and there were no problems. the last patch i installed was bhruic's first unofficial one, the one that reactivated the glance screen.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have found no problems with any game saves except PBEM. I get the 'Failed to Load'. Some PBEMs work. None of us into PBEM have figured out the difference of why one works and another doesn't.

well, i downloaded the patch from the links at this site and installed it again, but no change. i'm pretty sure however that the error message says "failed to uncompress game data."

and so unfortunately i can't load up that moment in the game to see which 80% you're referring to...

I downloaded the 3.17 patch off of CFC.net and patched the game. When I rebooted and checked the game it was still version 3.13. I repeated the above and got the same results.
I then uninstalled beyond the sword and then reinstalled it to the retail version. I then ran the downloaded 3.17 patch. That gave me a 3.17 version of BTS according to the version on my screen.

I'm having the same problem, but only with certain saves. I can load up my saves from the Defense mod just fine, but when I try to load up the autosave from a multiplayer game of Next War, it tells me 'failed to uncompress game data' and quits. Getting the same error on both of my machines, so I'm guessing it's a problem with the save file.

One of the saves in question

Is 'uncompress' even a word? Surely 'decompress' is right?

Update: Just uninstalled completely and reinstalled to a different folder, and now I'm getting TXT_KEY_UNCOMPRESS_FAILED instead of 'failed to uncompress game data'.

I've also noticed TXT_KEY_GAMESPEED in the 'Speed' option before I launch. Any connection or just a dodgy install?
