Loading a negative number map seed?

Hello!

Has anyone figured out how to start a game from a negative map seed? I've got a seed from a map I'd like to replay that's ten digits plus the minus sign, while the game will only accept ten characters!

Perhaps it works, if you add the seed number to the conquests.ini file in the field "WorldSeed=" or "WorldSeedName=", then start the game and click "Play Last World"?

BTW: I'm moving this to the "Technical Support" forum. Might be better taken care of there...

I just made this experiment and set a minus sign as the first digital of the seed of an archipelago map in my last game. I received a very interesting map of a ring world (see the mini map). The minus transformed the archipelago map to a ring world:

I was not able to add the minus to 10 digitals, but it seems to be no problem to replace at least the first digital by a minus sign.

An excellent suggestion that worked perfectly!

Interestingly, the negative map seed number being read from the .ini file was transformed into a completely different number for the "Enter Seed"-field, but inspecting the resulting .sav file using CivAssist 2, the original number shows up again.

Thanks a lot for your help!

You are definitely right!

I think when I made this thread's title I hadn't yet realized that the issue wasn't really to enter a negative seed, but rather to have room for all the 11 characters of a ten digit negative number.

My apologies for the confusion there!

Since then I've found out you can actually have all kinds of special characters in your seed, but they will get translated to digits according to who-knows-what formula.
