Good Morning!

I'm trying to load the mods included with the game, especially the Final Frontier Mod, but everytime I do, ithe game crashes to the Desktop. Does anyone know of a fix for this? Am I supposed to change a setting in an INI or something? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Does it crash to the desktop, or shutdown and not restart? Are there any error messages?

My apologies for not being too specific. It just crashes directly to the Desktop, with no error, but the game will allow a reload, but I can't play any of the mods. :( I'll try uninstalling everything, cleaning my registry, and reinstalling... hopefully that will work.

I have same problem that CJDJ has. Any attemt to load mods or scenarios crashes game to desktop. Error messaege tells that Civ4BeyondSword.exe has caused application to crash.

I have 32 bit Vista Home premium and my game I downloaded from Steam. Needless to say, I don't have these problems in the original Civ4...

I am having the same problem: CTD's with the mods (but not the main game), particularly Final Frontier and RFC. I think the CTD's are leaderhead-related in all or most cases. Sometimes a message won't come up at all, but other times two messages came up in succession:

“ERROR: Failed to allocate video memory. Please try reducing your graphics settings.
File:\main\Civilization4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\CoreLibs \NiDX9Renderer\NiDX9SourceTextureData.cpp, Line:321” (Please see Error Civ 4.jpg)
"

Then:

“Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Program: …er’s Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for ore information
.”

I have a savegame from RFC in which the CTD occurs at the end of the turn, if someone wants to take a look. It can be found at:

I have thought about the possibility of increasing the shared memory of my video card to address this problem but :
1) I'm not sure how to do it exactly
2) I'm not sure its safe
3) I'm not even sure that I *can* do it with my computer

Sorry, its actually Line:177, not Line:321, if that makes any difference.

Does the game crash when you click "Play Now" or does it not even reach that far? What if you go to your ini file and set this line:

HideMovieBackground = 1
