Have use a few Civs with great people but mainly Greece and Spain.
Find the logios bonuses are so so compared to conquistadors.
Some just give very minor bonuses to certain buildings which you loose after the age reset.

Thoughts?

I like them (the logios, will be trying my first Spain play after dinner) but I wouldn't mind if something about them stuck around post age transition. Maybe that's too much of a hassle or unbalancing. Broadly speaking I wouldn't mind some kind of lingering bonus for stuff like that. Maybe if you recruit all of a great person stack it gives you one charge of Future Tech or future Civic (without pushing Age progress). Come to think of it, I like that and it makes some narrative sense.....

I've not yet played many games with civs with great people, but Greece is an exception. I have a tendency to dig into one civ until I've figured it out. My verdict so far is Logios are terrible. As you pointed out, the bonuses they give are neither permanent nor significant, and some of them provide bonuses to late-game buildings like Academy and Amphitheater. What am I supposed to do with Aristotle when I'm at least 30 turns away from getting my first Academy? The only Logios that I've found worth getting is Thales. In one of my games, I got 10 science from him, although I couldn't figure out exactly how because I don't think my city was generating 20 influence per turn. Logios just don't work out because they're just not worth the production early game, but the later you get them, the less value they provide. Honestly, they're at best as useful as Ancient Walls, which I'd often rather get at the end of Antiquity in case my neighbours decide to attack at the beginning of Exploration.

Yeah I found the Greek Logios to be quite lackluster. Egypt's Tjaty are a lot better because there are several that can help with building wonders and the others are decent as well. Abbasid's Alim were also decent because you can get them out earlier.

I tried the logios. I ended up with a lot of promotions probably the most I've had. I went to war with Greek and had about 3 assault and 3 bastion promoted on 1 logios. I was getting +4 xp on defense and offense. Throughout the antiquity era, even though i took 2 settlements i had that many promotions on legions vs Hoplites.

I like the Egyptian-ones. Mostly like great engineers to boost wonder-building. But the one spawning two heavy cavalry (=chariots) came in as a lifesaver in a dire situation.

I really wish we had an easily accessible in-game list of each Great Person and what buildings they might require, so that we could plan. If only we had such information, and it were in a comprehensive menu... like, a Civilopedia of sorts.

I'm not saying that they should not put detailed descriptions in the Civilopedia, but: I kind of like their randomness and capability to surprise. And their effects can vary widely depending on the order they come out, of course - planning for them almost brings about more frustration than necessary. (I.e. as Egypt, if you've seen them all, you almost have to keep building them until one of the wonder architects appears. And that is - less fun.)

I tend to make them when I don't have a convincing option in the build menu, to shake things up a little. And that's a fine spot for them in the game, imo. (Also tend to forget about them and then rush a bunch, they're so far down the menu sometimes - similar to wonders.)

One thing to keep in mind with Logios is that any boost that you get earlier is always more useful than one you get later, even if it doesn't persist because you turn it into something that does persist. The power level of the Logios should therefore be compared to other Ancient Era great people like the ones from Egypt.

That would be Rome's Legatus (unique Army Commander), not the Greece's Logios (Great People) that is discussed here.

I can help with that. I took a few screenshot about a few Great People. I don't have them all. Those are Online speed, minimum difficulty, long era settings.

I like the detail they bring to most portrait, almost none are exactly the same. Except for the Jacobins, for some reason...

True there is no point in directly comparing them to great people from other ages. Due to their random nature and the fact that you need to research and build the Unique Quarter to even build them doesn't make them really feasible to go for early.
