Hi everyone

Just wanted to drop by to say hello. :)

When only against the AI, I have been successfully playing Civ5 at emperor level, however at immortal's I sure show some signs to have problems for staying "alive" and not go down with that hole in my boat.

The troubles start already early in game, i.e. for example the only AI on my continent manages to have a resource of only 2 iron but he can pop up more than 6 (and counting) swordsmen, and no, there was no way another AI could have given him some additional iron, since we were pretty much isolated from the rest of the world as it crystallized later in game. Cheater! LOL

Another example is with science/tech, while I know doing pretty well having the Great Library right from start, observations, universities, great scientists, etc, he actually finishes the Manhattan project at around the 1600's already while I am still wearing my infant shoes and proudly just discovered riflemen.

I hate him. Grrrr.

Anyway, thought the above was funny enough to elaborate. Hope y'all having a good time. :D

Huggzzz

PS: I may eventually get online this weekend and try a game with actual players, rather than with this miraculous AI magician for a change.

The AI does cheat in terms of getting extra gold, happiness, science, culture and production but it does play fair in terms of strategic resources. The AI either had a iron deposit you didn't know about or had a city state ally providing it iron - or maybe traded for iron from another civilization. They do all 3 of these things to try to get strategic resources they lack. You can tell because if you steal their CS or pillage their iron they will definitely get the -50% strategic resource penalty on their iron units.

First of all like orangecape said the AI doesn't cheat at resources you sometimes see them with a strategic resource penalty

there will probarly be a city state with iron and they are allied with you didn't discover yet maybe behind them or at the other continent

As technology and science wise goes don't be scared if the AI is allready in industrial the AI usally research all technologies and doesn't go straight for a technology so you have enough time before they win a science victory

They usally go for the manhatten project and after that they go through a other tech tree

When you see a AI enters modern era then you have to watch out but its still not that bad when they enter future era then you will lose technologicly victory

The AI will cheat with some movement and fire rules. I've seen them ignore ZoC and in GotM31, Dehli produced a catapult, attacked and then moved. The archer remained in the city. The catapult moved into the tile of the unit it destroyed.

It is a bug I have donne the same in one of my game sometimes the game doesn't know there was allready a unit in the city.

However I have seen the AI a lot of times so i 'm starting to wonder

Maybe they changed that, because if there is no free tile and the unit cannot move the game would not advance.

Or one of their cities was built directly on top of an iron deposit. That can be difficult to spot, if you're just using your eye to examine terrain (without the resource icons activated).

Or they were moving units simutaenously but you see them move out of order .

I also routinely see them fly 2 air bombard missions simultaneously against other AI players. To save time IBT.

On Prince, they get roughly double the happiness if you work it out. Also, a little more science, and a lot more culture. "No particular advantages" :gripe:

Yeah its anoying you sometimes don't see whats happening

Yeah, that could be it. Though, I always have resource toggle on, but... I noticed it doesnt show on my screen when for example one of my cities is built right on top of it and later I am wondering how on earth I got that resource. :D

I still hate the AI though! :gripe:

:)

Actually I tested this out over the weekend. My production city had an archer and built a catapult. I was able to use both units on the city square to bombard attackers

IBT, the game automatically kicked out one of my units to the next square.
