This is my first post on this forum, but I am a long time lurker.
I have installed Civ IV and find that I have very few issues except for one: In single player, there is about a 1-2 second response time between issuing a command and the game carrying it out.I do not think that this is a graphical issue, as I get between 20-30 FPS for the majority of the game (things go down a bit when the map is revealed, but it is still around 15-20 FPS. There is no issue with map scrolling or the like, only this "command lag" problem. Has anyoned experience a similar problem and have any suggestions for fixing it? Or is this just something that I have to learn to deal with (It makes a game take a LOT longer when it takes 2 seconds to move a worker and another 2 to build a farm -- let alone assault Tokyo!)
Here are my specs for reference -- I am well above recommended:
Windows XP
ATI Radeon 9800 XT, 256 MB RAM
Pentium 4, 2.60 GHz
2 GB RAM
For reference, I updated sound and video card drivers, installed SP2, defragmented my hard drive, made sure that I had the latest direct X, and fiddled around with graphics settings (no change whatsoever)
Any ideas?
