In the long term, do you think we should attack Lincoln? I think we should, he's our main competitor, and our closest neighbour (once Spain is gone :mischief:), so taking him out would greatly help us.

If we do want to attack him, when, and with which weaponry? I'd like to do it as soon as possible, so that would probably be maces and trebuchets.

In our cases, Samurai and trebuchets. If this is possible, the fact that we have Samurai will be of importance and give us a helping hand in taking him down.

EDIT:

Concerning the actual decision, I will need details before taking sides:
1) Tech Comparison:
Afaik, he has longbows. We have civilservice on him, which means that with some focus, we can get Samurai and Trebs before he gets macemen and castles. Avoiding him getting crossbows would be neat.
2) Current situation:
How do we fare against Spain?
3) Military comparison:
A DaveShack report would be nice; What units do we have to send to the offensive, what units does Babylon have?
4) Benefits of a war:
What will we gain from a war with Lincoln? What lands, what resources, what cities with how much population?
5) Losses by warring:
What will we miss out on? How much will the war affect our techrate? What wonders will we lose? Which AIs will we suffer diplomatic hits against? Will any of our cities starve or stagnate due to war weariness and/or brothersinfaith war?

1) I fear he might have x-bows when we're ready to attack, but war elephants + samurai + trebs vs. longbows + crossbows is pretty good IMO.
2) We plan to declare now, so it'll be a while until this war on Lincoln becomes a serious option. In the long term, it will be. And we need to plan for it now, as it'll impact our tech path, diplo, etc.
3) Too early to tell, I'm really thinking long term here
4) Quite a lot of land, some nice resources, and the Great Lighthouse. It will also kill our main competitor, and relieve cultural pressure on some of our cities.
5) We will be hurt economically, of course. But we will also hurt our main competitor, so the net-effect of this war should be positive.

Good. In that case, I think we should tech for war. Samurai are powerful, even more so with an Aggressive leader, so if we later decide not to war with Lincoln, they will atleast speed up the progress of killing off Hatty, and if we do, we have em handy.

Yeah, I believe war with Babylon is a good option.
