Long wait times between turns

It does not seem to be a python exception. I'm about to test to see if quick move helps.

At first I had thought it might have been some slow python function call, but the delay occurs when sleeping/fortifying units.

Has FF gone over some magical memory soft cap that's causing all animations to be paged?
 
Quick moves doesn't seem to eliminate the hiccup, and like Milaga says, it happens on other commands as well. When moving, it is like
Click
*pause*
Move
*pause*
Next Unit.

Also, I took a closer look with the moving animations on, and the pause happens at the transition between the 'moving' animation and the 'static' animation.
 
Get a scond computer and play two games at once. I find that fixes the problem for me.
 
Pssh, don't get a second computer, just get a second monitor.
I have two monitors, a 4 core processor, and a GTX 280. I can play two games of civ at once.
(In all seriousness, I did it once just to prove I could, while some of my playtesters were getting lunch and therefore making turns go slow.)
