I just have uploaded my first mini-mod. It is in Mod Browser under "Longer Games".
It adds 3 new gamespeeds - Snail (3000 turns), Super Snail (6000) and Stagnation (12000 turns).

It changes every aspect of game (building time, reaserch, inflation) in the same proportion.
Only exeptation is rush buying cost - due the formula, on longer paces, gold becoming extreamly efficent, so I increased gold cost of rush buying.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH SUCH A LONG GAME?

Lets say, you are playing on Stagnation game speed - what does that meen?
- It will take 8 times more turns to complete a game than od Marathon speed
- Each era will last 8 time longer - it means that each era is more or less a litle Marathon Game
- Each strategical decision is very important - if you start reaserching mining, it will take an about 300 turns to complere; if you choose social policy, you will not recive a new one for a long time; if you loose unit, it will take few hundret turns to build new...
- You can try to finish a whole game, but also, I highly recomend advenced era start option, selection of victory conditions (ie time and domination only) and setting up max turns...



I know that is not a new idea, but I couldn't find anything like this, that is not changing proportions between reaserch time and building time (like Repacing mod) or other rules.

BUGS ad stuff (HELP needed):
- a little imcompability with TBC - becouse I changed rush buing formula, I think TBC tooltip shows wrong numbers
- calendar is still unperfect in late game years - ant it will be until I find a way to use weeks or I will sit down and do a lot of ctrl + c ctrl + v and checkign stuff
- you can not set max turns over 999 - it makes sense in vanila (marathol lasts fo 1500 turns), but on longer paces it is pretty sad
- for some reason, value of open borders is constant fo AI - it means, no matter what pace you are playing, AI will pay you only 50 gold. This is not a big problem on Marathon, but on Stagnation, you will get 50 gold for deal lasting 720 turns.
- same goes to the gold found in the ruins - amout of it do not scale with game pace, so you can find something like 50 gold.
- Military CS tooltip says, you will recive unit every 17/20 turns - it is not true (which is good information, since text issue isn't as bad as balance issue ;) )
 
Wow Gewar! I can't wait to try this out! I'm curious to see if I can make it a whole game on stagnation! Thanks for the great mod.
 
I'd figured I'd come here just to say I like the concept of this, and it inspired me to make my own similar mod with some more "realistic" additions as well as other stuff I've been making. I'll put you in the Special Thanks since you gave me an idea, if you don't mind. :c5influence:

Probably, I will be making some more little mods to make game fits me current needs - but those wont show up earlier than I improve my skills ;)
 
is it possible to make this mod compatible with Procylon's Call to Power Project. pretty please:)
 
If that mod is not using names 'Snail', 'Super Snail' and 'Stagnation' and you don't mind rush buying cost change - I think it is compatible.
I have never try that mod (I am waiting for not-alfa version), so I don't know if it changes something in game paces.
 
the mod adds two eras and hundreds of other buildings,techs,govs,resources,ect.. look in mod packs on this sight
 
Oh, ok - I can do it, but not in the nearest future. I had (I still have :P) some problems to set proper date/turn balance - the rest is easy.
Also, I am planning to make some other mods right now and I have real life too :P
Try to remind my (by PM maybe) after some time (two weeks maybe?) and I will do it. Or you can try do it on your own - I don't mind if you will use my xml ;)

Gewar, well I finished a game on stagnation speed (india, prince, standard map, occ (to cut down on turn times), pangea, no barbs, policy saving) and finished with a space race victory (I could have won domination and/or cultural way before this but wanted to go for the victory that would take the longest.

Anyway, I'm not sure the AI can play this mod (or perhaps just this speed rather). Not one AI except Egypt built a second city the whole game and the city Egypt built was built suspiciously early (my guess is that they popped a few culture huts very fast and then got it from the liberty tree as that is the tree they went down according to the diplo screen.) Not one leader built a wonder the entire game and I left the majority of them unbuilt. In fact, I'm not sure they built anything at all. By the time I hit computers Persia only had a city of 3 pop. I'm wondering whether the AI is coded to definitely NOT build something if it will take over a certain number of turns to build thus preventing them from doing anything. Also, they get nowhere in tech. Egypt declared war on me once (this war lasted for half the game) and the most advanced unit they ever had was a spearman (this was as I was in the industrial era.)

I had some other mods enabled but they are all single world wonder additions, a cultural border mod, a cultral building mod, and the culture capital mod. I can provide a list if you'd like though I almost always play with these and have never had a game like this before.

Just wanted to let you know. And by the way, marathon seems like quick speed now! :) lol
 
Thanks - I have been playing stagnatin game few times, and some AI build second cities (when I had 6) and I decided to not to finish those games and try to do something with AI - but I failed :(

I have some plans to make mod where units building more rush buing focus with proper AI support, but it is longer term plan... Now I have a little time due to the studies and other factors.

Maybe you should try highier difficulty level, where AI have some free units? Or advenced start?
 
Not to bug you about an old mod, but I've been using this until G&K came out. Now, when used with certain mods (Especially some Earth maps) the game crashes while this is active.
Any workaround for this or an update for G&K?

This probably has to do with this Calendar deal, as Firaxis added smaller units of time a while back IIRC.
