i have a few questions for all you 'dairy farmers' out there.
am currently in the middle of a hof attempt and i'm approaching the
modern age. a few weeks ago in one of these threads was a discussion
about the pros and cons of Longevity and there were some interesting
points made. i know this is something i should build if my cities are not maxed out on pop. so, here are the questions-

1) should i keep Longevity for all those 'one extra food' cities?
2) is score affected positively on negatively by starvation?
3) do you all even out the food produced or just keep the
one extra food?

thank you for any input!! :)

This is a generic answer. When you have Longevity and a city with +1 in food, it will add 2 citizens and be starving 2 citizens not 1. So when you finally use all the surplus food 2 citizens will go away on 2 subsequent turns then you will build up your food surplus until you add the 2 citizens again. Without Longevity you would only be cycling with 1 extra citizen not 2 so during those turns where there are extra specialists there are 2 of them most of the time not 1. There is 1 more turn to starve the 1 extra citizen with Longevity so the cycle is slightly longer.

I think Svar answered the questions.

From a scoring point of view, it is better to even out the cities. (viz. NO Food Excess.)

For example, 2 cities with 12 population (No excess food) is better than 11+1 & 12+1 because you will spend MORE turns at 11 than you will at 13 population. :)

When your cities have max-ed out on Population, I think Longevity is a NEGATIVE for cities with a food excess! :)

On this point you are correct. I don't recall where in my Monarch2b thread it was but EMan and SirPleb illustrated the math proving this.

thanks quys!!
i will probably build it, then after all my cities are full
i will disband the city it is in.
