Looking at the save without Conquests

Just had this idea, a possible way for the citizens without Conquests to atleast study differant parts of the save (legally BTW ;)).

They can use the most updated version of CivAssist to get some basic updated data from the save, without having to own conquests. Although you won't beable to see the map, it is still better than nothing, and is actually easier than opening the save itself.

Just thought I'd point this out to everyone without conquests who would still like to obtain data from the save (for whatever various reason).

I would also recommend the use of CRP Suite which can extract data from saves in tabular form (stats program) and show the explored map (rings program). It should be noted however that using the spoiler features of any of these programs, for example to reveal the map which is unexplored, should be considered prohibited actions.

Yes they should be considered prohibited, but we have no way of stopping anyone from using the spoiler features. We just have to trust that the people will be honest. It's a great idea though!

Trusting people to be honest or using the CRP suite is a great idea? ;)

I don't like external tools such as CRP, or any other tools unless it's near the endgame (i.e., using a culture victory calculator to determine our exact estimated win date), or a domination calculator (obsolete with C3C) to see if we're close to a domination win. It's possible that any of those tools might give an extra unknown piece of information (i.e., it might show other civs in the game, seeing what other civs are trading -- the easy way -- such a thing could reveal an unknown resource as being in a general area.).

CivAssist only shows information that you know in-game.

With the spoiler settings in CRPSuite turned off (the default and you must go out of your way to turn them on), the data provided is the same data which can be extracted in-game. It is an approved tool for GOTM, which makes it all right in my book.
