Looking for a game....

Looking for a decent space strat game, turn based multi-player along the lines of MOO. Cant seem to find one out there that really fits the bill. Anyone know of a decent 4X space game along those lines?

I can't recall any recent games that are turned based, although keep your eye on Sword of the Stars II

Does 4x mean turn based like civ? if so galactic civilizations 2 is really good, i picked up the ultimate edition a little while back, unfortunately it does a require the installation of a drm platform similar to steam in order to have the game patched, it's called "impulse", but as far as the game itself is concerned its a really fun space game.

Meanwhile pick up Sword of the Stars Ultimate, it is a 4X game though the battles are real time but only go on for 5 minutes (I think I set mine to 6) before ending (which is usually plenty of time, despite how slow some ships can be). Really good game.

EDIT: Though I am willing to play Total War battles in multiplayer.
