Looking to start a game with other newer players

as long as pass was required, but we allowed hot-join AI id imagine we could just give out password to someone requesting, no? (and just not give it out past a certain year)

Okay. Your page says you cannot join social groups. Try changing that in "My Account or something"

maybe we can start a huge earth18 (or any other rly, not picky) and let others join civs when they can (up untill 0-500 AD)? wont be available for tonight or tomorrow but i'm good for Tuesday onwards!

Tuesday is when you can join the group, btw. Besides, I meant a normal speed/duel sized map against just you.

Hi there guys,

I am also very interested in joining the group.

Played a couple of other pbem games a couple of years ago.
Have had my fair share of multiplayer civ on the server.

I am all for a laid back game in which one really thinks before one acts..
and I hope for a lot of flavour in the game (named units, cities, civs etc).

Some advice /preferences:
* NO simultaneous turns

* start with players only > agree beforehand at which point players may leave
(for example when a player is less than 25% of nr 1)

* agree on what to do with alliances and vassals
(i am all for maximum freedom)

* map: an interesting map type may be:
TECTONICS - MEDITERRANEAN
(tiny for 5 players, small 5<>8, large 8>)

* dont play a huge map: it will take just too long before one has real contact with other players

Just waking up but I have an idea of how we can accommodate everyone! (woot)

soo, in our group page (everyone join! will put link on first post) I think everyone should post what their IDEAL game would be (keeping in mind we're going for a slower paced laid back realistic type game)- then we run a quick vote (to be concluded in 24 hours) and whoever get's most, that's the first game we play! (it will be up to whosever 'game' it is on rule changes, but they must be agreed on)

as soon as we get 3 votes on a map, or a majority after 24 hours we're gonna start!

Civ noob here - never been a huge fan of playing AI in games, much prefer multiplayer - and I like long, drawn out, realistic games, especially if it's a chill atmosphere.

I'd like to join this group!

I have a pretty flexible schedule, can make most evenings since that's probably the most doable for people in general.

I am interested in playing. Okay, I have some multiplayer experience. I sympathize that simultaneous turns definitely changes gameplay when you're used to playing single player...but have you tried playing regular turns for a whole game? Honestly...a standard size map with 7 players and regular turns on standard speed could easily take more than 24 hours. You know how in single player if you have a fast computer and you click "end turn" it takes a few seconds before your next turn? Imagine that taking....20 minutes. Anyway, I really miss multiplayer Civ, it's honestly been like 4 years, I really want to try it again. I like hte idea of making a group - that keeps it fun.

awesome! think we might have enough to start this-

just a note on the simultaneous turns- for a quicker game I don't mind them so much, but I compare this game to something like chess- if you were playing a 5-6 player game of chess turns might end up taking a similar amount of time (and obviously this game is much more complicated).

I think the main point of us creating this group is so we can have longer type, laid back games with deep thought involved. games that we can save, and continue at agreed times. (if turns are unbearably long, multitask! there will be turn timers at (at least) normal on all games with No simultaneous- so turn on tv or grab a book or something while people go through the motions).

With that said, Vote underneath your submission or PM me for which map you'd like to play first in our group page forum! (if you cant join yet just post it here) Voting will be closed at 12 am GMT -5. If everyone votes quickly tho we can get the game started today!

It's kind of rudimentary on specifications (my vote), however, I'd say standard or large, and Earth-like in terms of about 60-70% water. No pref on weather patterns or climatology. Don't think I'm leaving anything out, anyway that's the concept behind my vote. Everything else sounds pretty good.

I'm free after 7:30pm EST tonight.

Ah, just saw your post. I was entranced in an offline game; Montezuma never forgets how to spoil a party.

Done for the night, but will be back around tomorrow about the same time. Usually I'm on earlier, except for Wed's and Thu's around the 7pm range - later classes.

Well dinner plans came up tonight, tomorrow I'm good probably after 6pm. Shared comms is a good idea. I have MSN, Gtalk, umm, maybe a TS or RW channel, or I don't have it but I know the democratic game folks use IRC, think it's called.
