Haven't seen this problem mentioned here.

Whatever human race I play, as soon as I meet the aliens I get stuck in a loop where when I hit the close for the dialog it just pops back up again. I have to kill the game with ctl-alt-del at this point.

I believe I have 2.0 installed, but I can't see that version number anywhere; the terranx.exe is dated 24 Jan 2000 . I'm playing under XP SP1. SMAC has no problem.

Anyone else seen this? Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks, all.

Alright then, has anyone else actually seen the problem? Can you confirm it doesn't happen for you?

My terranx.exe has the same date (it's the "no CD crack" of version 2.0). I don't have this problem now, but I think I might have run into it very infrequently in the past.

There is a known problem/feature where a faction (not just the Aliens) will repeatedly pop up a dialog box without allowing you to reply. However, the box eventually goes away. I assume that you've closed the dialog box at least 4 or five times. If not, try that.

You can see the version # from within the game: From the game Menu, select Help, Show Version Number.

Ah, yes, that's right. I will emphasise that this is a legal copy of the game! I use the no CD crack cause when I travel (as I am now) the laptop battery lasts longer with no CD activity.

Your description of the problem sounds a little like mine, except it is definitely only meeting the aliens that causes it, and it happens every time without fail. So I can only play as one of the aliens cause then it doesn't happen.

I'm not confident I have hit the OK on the dialog box as often as you imply I might need to, so I'll give it another try when I can. Thx for the response!

It turns out that I do not get this problem when playing on another machine, so I guess it's an issue with one installation only. Reinstall time I guess. Thx folks.
