when sam is talking with sandymans son in the first chapter, i think, he says that theyre going through odd times. etc. but he says how there have been sitings of trees that walk. well, never realised it, but theres the entwives. anyone notice this before? and, wouldnt pippin or merry have heard of that? sam prolly would have told em. i think sam said they were in the north moors, or the northern moors, something like that, but i couldnt find it on the map. i would imagine it wouldnt be that far from the shire. anyone know where it is? anyone notice that before? im sure lefty did, eh?

I had always assume that Sam's cousin Halfast (sort of a joke name there by Tolkien, the language master. Hal-fast can also be half-ast :D ) Had seen a wandering Ent, likely one on a longer than usual search for the EntWives.

I do not recall if it was "the North Moors" or perhaps just the "North Farthing". Imeediately north of Northfarthing is a line of hills south of Lake Evendim and Elendil's old capital of Arnor, Annuminas. If the EntWives were is residence there, the Rangers would know it and Aragorn would have told Treebeard.

I have got to get another copy of the trilogy, so that i can look these things up.

LOTR does not specify Old Man Williws origen. He could be a lethargic ent, Or one those tress that is becoming ent like, or a tree inhabited by some sort of ghost or spirit, or a Maia (of Yavanna's people) who took tree form.
