Love the details in combat animations

I was watching this video of Civ 6 battles without commentary
and I really appreciate the animations and details in combat.

Each unit has a "kill blow" animation that differs from the normal attack, like Samurai's final sword slash and then slowly inserting blade back to scabbard.

Also, when Bazooka team attacks they shoot the normal rocket, but when they are attacked, instead the crewman pulls out a pistol and shoots the attacker with it.

Combined with all the small animation going on map and cities I really love the aesthetics.

I dislike the batman flashes combat has. Other than that, it's good.

I like the Redcoats' finishing move where one model walks up and smashes his rifle butt in the enemy's face.

I agree, the animations are nice looking, but what I really like is that the horses of cavalry units are allways unharmed unlike in previous games and unfortunatly in real live.

If they would just get rid of their strange Mechanical Infantry and use modern day infantry instead.

Yeah, that picture perfectly summarizes the bad aspect of the combat animations, hits tend to produce fireworks instead of representing the real weapon effect

They look nice, if cartoony but that fits the whole game. They also look slow. I hope this time we have a real quick combat rather than the CiV "instant combat and you don't know what hit you cause you can't read 20 notifications in 0.5 seconds" definition of "quick"

I think the animations are mostly great, except the air combat ones. Just like in Civ V, they seem to go on for way too long. Those need to play much faster, if they haven't already done something about it. Unfortunately instant combat isn't a real fix since that is too quick and you can't see what hit you.

I wouldn't say i love the details in combat animations, for me it's more that i appreciate the details in combat animation. On the note of this thread, i was just thinking the other day, from all the game play videos nobody is zooming to check out the amazing animation, most of the let's plays don't even mention anything concerning animations ... this made me think - "what a waste" - someone put so much work into modeling and animation and most of the players just go to next turn, they don't bathe in the beauty of living scenery of new civ 6.

Granted, youtubers don't fool around and waste time in order to showcase the actual game play, but i hope that people , when they get their hands on new civ 6 will took some time to really appreciate the beauty of new civ 6.
