low to mid range graphics card

Hiya

Im looking to upgrade my graphics card to play the odd game on at homr.

Ideally i dont want to spend a great deal, a maximum of 200 dollars or
so.

Can anyone advise a decent card?. I know for that price you dont get
a powerhouse.

Currently been looking at nvidia and ati options....

ati Radeon 9200 is good and fairly cheap AFAIK.

Just don't buy a SE one, they're worse than the original ones.

for $200 you're buying high end card. 9200 can be found for as low as $60.

Yeah, I agree. Go with a Radeon 9600. They are incredibly cost-efficient.

There isn't much difference between the Pro and XT versions - the XT version just has a higher clocked core and memory; if you overclock the core, you can usually get a Pro up to XT speeds with little trouble. I would go with the Pro, it is a little slower, but cost less. You can pick one up at Newegg.com for $111. Just whatever you do, stay away from the 9600SE models - they are crippled, and perform little better than a 9200.

And if you do want to spend a full $200, you can get a Radeon 9800 Pro for about that price right now.
