Lucidity units, map, clearer situation on a map...

I am a new player of Civ 4 and I like this game but one thing bother me. When there are more units on the map, mine and other nations, it’s quite difficult to recognize which are mine, are which belong to the enemy. My question is: is there any mode or graphical “improvement” that could help me? I’m not interested in nice and spectacular appearance; I’m looking for lucidity and efficiency. For example, only a quoter with a simple sign instead of picture would be the best for me

That is what the different colored flags and stuff are for on each unit.

Yes, I know. But the problem is that if I want to see a map from a little bigger distance, it’s quite difficult to recognize who is who. That’s why I am looking for different type of “units icon”.

In BTS, your enemies (at least) at least get a lovely red circle around them.
