I'm nearly ready to playtest my 'World War 3' scenario and just wanted to double-check a few things re. converting the scenario for PC use, as I'm a Mac User.

What format do the following need to be :

  1. Graphics files (units/cities/icons/terrain/title etc) incl. resolution -> 72 or 96 dpi ??
  2. Graphics, specifically the 'Art' folder (i.e. the Advisors reports screens) incl. resolution-> 72 or 96 dpi ??
  3. Sound files
  4. Main game scenario file (what file suffix etc)
  5. Events/Pedia/Describe/Game/Readme etc. txt files (presume plain txt or Word format)
    [/list=1]

    thanks

1.Graphic files should be made gifs (I allways edit my graphic files in that format anyway, to avoid the automatic pallete sorting in pict files).
2. These graphics must be made part of a pc dll file, you'll have to ask someone with a pc to do this (they don't have an art folder those graphics are stored in dlls)
3.Sound files should be wav files (at 22050 Hz) I use the sharewhere application "Soundapp" for this conversion.
4.The suffix of the scenario file is ".scn" and thats all you need to check on with that file (unless you use special characters like å, ä or ö in which case those will look strange on a pc but not crash the scenario).
5.As for the other files the only difference is the quit dialogue where all you need to do is replace it with the one you usually replace with the mac dialogue when converting for the mac ;)

EDIT: oh and its 72 dpi in my files.

Thanks for the reply Henrik !

72dpi all round ?

I have no idea, I got a PC user to do it for me when I substituted the king portraits in Carolus ;o

Its aparently some kind of file that stores images in it though (and we cannot open it, not with any program).

Also it is aparently not possible to replace all of the files that we have in our art folder on the PC (for example the defence ministers dialouge backgroun)

Wow it seems we are too fast for eachother here, I replied to your post while you edited it to ask for something I edited into my last message!

Yes 72 dpi all round.

I know :) I just re-edited twice as I realised you'd already answered my query... !

Btw is it just me or is the mac database down? :(
I tried going there yesterday to upload some more files but was greated with sql errors :(

Ahh - that's a real shame (but OK for us Mac Users ;) )... is this the same for ALL the Advisor screens ?

I have customised all of them - City Status / Defence Minister/ Foreign Minister / Attitude / Trade / Wonders OTW / Top 5 Cities / Civ Score.

Yep.. me too - I've some more to upload !

: MySQL Connection Failed: Access denied for user: 'civfanatics@localhost' (

Has TF disconnected us ??

This is what I get, I'm using Mozilla btw:

Warning: Access denied for user: 'civfanatics@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/virtual/site5/fst/var/www/html/files/civ2/includes/mysql.php on line 63

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Access denied for user: 'civfanatics@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/virtual/site5/fst/var/www/html/files/civ2/includes/mysql.php on line 63
paFileDB was unable to successfully connect to the MySQL database. Check your settings including the MySQL server, username, and password and try again.

Let's hope its just a big or something and that they'll fix it soon :(

Not sure but it seems reasonable to asume so.
We mac users will still be happy to use those files though :goodjob:

I hope so !

I spent ages editing a photo of Richard Nixon shaking hands with Mao Tse-Tung for the 'Foreign Minister' screen, plus some lovely New York skyline photos for the City Status/Top 5 Cities screens !

Here's some of the units anyway....
