Civ2 Tweeks,

I have been reading over the forum threads and have seen that folks have come up with ways to remove some restrictions in civ 2. However, it would appear that these fixes/tweaks/patches/utilities are only for those that live in Windows land, I live in Mac Land.

I see that Julius Brenzaida has created a no limit patch for TOT & MPGE & that Cedric Greene has created software to upgrade your version of Civ2. That is great, but I don't have these versions, simply the classic Civ2 for Mac. I presume these patches work only on .exe files, not mac land apps. Am I out of luck?

Those limits are a real drag, it would be great to play without them.

I never liked that the stealth bombers & fighters had such a limited range. In modern air combat, the useful range of such planes in unlimited with in-flight refuelling. I understand that built into Civ2 is the option to add 3 custom units or change a unit. Is is possible to revise the stealth planes to have say, 1000 move points by changing the appropriate unit file?

I seem to recall a small civ2 stand-alone combat calculator for mac. One would choose the two combating units, click as to who was fortified, had city walls etc, and it would predict a probability of success. Any guess where I might find such?

Any help you could provide in locating these issues would be greatly appreciated. . . I will name my capitol city after you in recognition of your assistance.
thank you.

Ya no limits is for PC only.Same with CG's updates.

Just like the PC version, almost everything in the mac version is changeable.Mac just uses different file formats and some different font sizes.

You can change any unit's stuff by making the changes in the rules.txt.I don't think you can go as high as 1000 moves(nor would you need to) but you can change attack and defense numbers, the pre-requisit tech, all kinds of stuff. And yes you can create your own new units if you have MGE,which has some extra unit slots ofr customizing. In the classic version you would need to replace an existing unit.

ALL graphics files can be changed. There are some ready to go at Apolyton's mac section.I know I personally converted HiRes graphics mod ,so that is available at least.
