Main Menu screen letterboxed

I noticed that after loading a mod (specifically the Fall from Heavan Bts Beta) that the main menu (without any mod loaded) was permanently letterboxed. Like this-

Before launching the mod the boxes were not there and also changing the screen resolution did not cause them to appear. (even wide-screen ones)

And just to clarify I tried:
1. Deleting CustomAssets and assets
2. Deleting \My Games\Beyond the Sword
3. Deleting the Ffh mod
None of them work.
Also, reinstalling Bts fixes the problem

Steps to reproduce:
1)start w/ a clean install of Bts, launch it
2)notice how there is no letter boxes
3)launch a mod (preferably NOT Ffh to see if it is a problem w/ the game or Ffh)
4)unload the mod
5)notice the letterboxes

also I tried reproducing the bug by loading Afterlife, and it caused the letterboxes to appear... I suspect it has something to do w/ the mod's custom interfaces.

Edit: It also seems that changing the default main menu doesn't fix it:

I also tried this with a widescreen laptop and it had no effect. So it seems that this only happens on non-widescreen displays?
Anyone else getting this issue? It is quite annoying.

Are you using a 16:9 display, because I'm using a 4:3 display.

Okay so I have a 5:4 display at a native resolution of 1280x1024, and after loading a mod that involves a interface change black boxes appear at the top and bottom of the screen- with the only way to fix it being a reinstall.
Changing which main menu picture loads doesn't fix it and changing the res either as with deleting customassets.

The background itself is 4:3. It will not fill the whole screen if you're not using 4:3 resolution

I can actually confirm this. I had this just happen to me only the mod was not FFH2. In my case it seems to be Road to War Add on Pack version and I don't recall the original version RtW causing such a change.

I play at 1280x1024 as well.

Ghost Ranger: Do of the official mods/scenarios (such as Final Frontier ) cause such a change for you?

Actually Ghost Ranger upon further investigation this appears to be normal behavior. Change the resolution to something like 1024x768, quit, restart and change the resolution back to 1280x1024. You will notice the letterboxing is gone. However quit and restart (without loading a mod) and you will notice the letterboxing has returned. I think it's always been that way, I didn't really noticed until you saw your post.

However the main menus for Vanillia/Warlords (not the BtS versions) are NOT letterboxed so this menu letterboxing must be a BTS-only thing.

So it seems that the BTS main menu doesn't correctly support 5:4 resolutions on 5:4 displays, but the other ones do...
