Imagine you can start the game normally, your Leader, is also your King, or Princess, or just "The Leader". Maybe it's an Immortal Leader, son of God, like an Egyptian Pharaoh, or Alexander the Great...
The you can play the game normally, but enter "SIM" mode any time you want, on any unit, and look at the world from their perspective, maybe add a "free roam mode" and also some minigames like
the early Sim City 2000 (Drive the tank to the Military Base", etc). But the most important feat, would be to get into your Leader as a Sim.

Now you have your Palace, with the throne room, and you can expand your palace, your city, and move around freely.
Invite leaders of other nations in your Palace, and go to other Leaders Palaces!!!

Every Palace would look different inside and outside, and you would look at it in 1st person. Sit on your throne, and watch the emissaries or other Kings in front of you, with all the scenery your Palace and meeting place happens.
If you are Egypt, and have built the Pyramids, maybe a Huge Open space could open and when visiting another player Throne room, you could see these Majestic wonders in the distance...

This is not a dream, it can be done.
These "Leaders" have nothing of unique. Is it time for a change?
Is it time for the Throne room to come back in Epic style?
Is it time to get back to "criss-cross" genres a little bit?
Like... Sim City 1st person driving Helicopter expansion... It wasn't in the base game...
You want it? You buy it separately.... then it could sell well or not... based on that then it could be standard or not for consequent games....

But it is a fact that they took away the Palace construction, and the Throne Room, and the Leader personalised scenery setting.
Leaders could be very much a "SIM-like" mini-game at this point.

It could be done with Art, or with prejudice.
If prejudice took over everybody, then there is no hope.
Art means love.

How much of a "Sim" are civfanatics going to accept?

What?

You should also be able to ask other leaders to a date!

Yes and imagine the leader being able to start up a pc in the modern age and logging into an account and playing Civ on that pc! Then we can play Civ in Civ! And in that Civ we could then play Sims again, in which we can play Civ! And in that... :shifty:

Its a little over the top. But personally there is a degree to which I agree - my favourite part of Civ5 (as a novice) was meeting the leaders for the first time, interacting with them, listening to all the various voiced lines, it was very cool.

Plus their palace doubles a set piece, so when they declare war, the camera zooms out slightly, that follows some exaggerated facial expressions and aggressive but decisive voicelines.

So in some way, I enjoy that aspect.
But, playing the Sim of the entire game? It's very much too far fetched and most people wouldn't make too much use of it if it were in.

You should also be able to ask other leaders to a date!
My toxic trait is I agree 😂

What you want to play is Crusader Kings III
I just "would" like the Palace, the throne room, and a leader that don't get dates with the first one met around the corner...
I tried to spicy it up a bit, it's no secret that Helicopter mode has been a ....... (self censoring happening)

Did you ever played Civ III? This is nothing new...

You make it sound like I said some kind of blasphemy...
You do understand that Kings and Queens was a core aspect of the old Civs???

We used to have unique Leaders Units for each Civ, it was like hide and seek, you would move your king unit around, and untill the enemy found you, you could still win...

I have played all civ games that has been made. I am not interested in such a mode as proposed. I remember the regicide mode, a mode we had in this one game, and I do not want it back. But no, it was never a core aspect of the old civs. It was a less used game mode in the worst civ game made. :P

How dare you insult the greatest Civ Game of all times.... :queen:

Did you ever finish the Alexander campaign/scenario, getting all relics, defeat the Indians, and get home back alive?
If not you NEVER played civ3. Sorry. You're disqualified.

What? Civ had a regicide mode? That's crazy!
Now let's be fair this would be so fun in like a medieval multiplayer game. Imagine a Europe map with your mates where they go for King snipes just like Age of Empires.

YEp, and Crusaders, with your Kings that must lead the charge... and if you die By Salah ad-Din, your all civ disappear... the same could also be done in Antiquity, exploration, etc... mini-quests
Treasure fleet is like the old Maya invasion, where you have to steal the gold relics... it's not much different in real terms... only now it's like the full scope of an entire age... and it's the same for everybody... of course should be an option, not everyone might like this kind of play...

Also, have a listen here to what Sid once said about Civ III...

It's incredible how they talk of good ideas and design choices back then and now it's almost taboo talking about the same things...

Dang, I would love to be able to walk/drive around in my empire. Just like you can do in Cities: Skylines, it has no gameplay impact but it's just a fun thing to do to see how things look through the eyes of your citizens.

Losing the Palace/Throne room and Victory Replay and Demographics was a terrible idea.

Losing the Palace/Throne room and Victory Replay and Demographics was a terrible idea.
And mods could never bring them back, even if the is a Victory replay mod for Civ VI, it's lame.
It gives no context to events, not even showing the logs like in Civ IV, which was terrible to look at, but for as much minimalistic it was in its functionality, it
maintained its core integral.

A mix of Civ and Europa Universalis would be nice. Real population numbers, people of different cultures living in the empire (having impact on the state), dynasty mechanics in monarchies, parties and elections in republics, better trading system, supply & demand mechanic, population needs and some sort of administrative capacity.

Yeah, I'd like that.

But we got Lovelace and mandatory civ switching.

No. Just no.

There are more than enough historical simulators, let's keep Civ a strategic game.
