Make old GOTM/WOTM available unprotected?

Hi GOTM/WOTM moderators. I greatly enjoy the GOTM's but haven't had a chance to play the last few. I was hoping to download the WOTM's that have been released and play them but they all require older pre-patched versions of the game. Instead of trying to go back and match my game to the correct settings would it be possible to make a archive of un-protected saves? These could be made available a couple of months after the GOTM/WOTM is finished but would allow people like me or people who find this site after the fact to 'go back' and play old games without having to match up settings/patches to the correct versions.

I find it helpful and fun to play old GOTM's and then read the spoilers to see how I did - it's less stressful than playing the current GOTM and is improving my game to where I'll want to play & participate in the active GOTM.

Thanks :goodjob:

I have a similar question. Several times I've been curious what different AIs were doing during GOTMs and have wanted to go back to saves and look in worldbuilder (add spies and play a few turns) after playing the game. Would it be possible to get the worldbuilder passwords posted after the close of game/posting of results?

I'm not keen to give-out passwords. I use passwords that I can remember, so that if I need to go back for any particular reason, I can. That limits the number of passwords that I actually use - so I don't want to give any of these out.

I <could> start recording the passwords somewhere, but that would require me to be organised.

I understand. I often use a single password for multiple uses. I dodn't know if you used a randomly generated password for GOTMs.

You could always just use the world builder to create a similar scenario. There are often unprotected practice saves in the pre-game discussion threads. They might be a good place to start. Using the World Builder does take some skill but then so does playing Civ4. I consider the map editor the easier of the two.
