Making Air Units Mobile

I've noticed that most people who create new air units for Civ III have the trouble of making them mobile. Well, I don't know if anyone knew about this or not, and if you do know about this just let me know, but if you are adding air units to your Civ III game, make sure when using the Civ3Edit, do not select "Immobile" under Unit Abilities. This will ensure that your air unit will move like a land unit. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks.

For starters, air units aren't allowed to attack cities, unlike in Civ II. Hopefully the next patch and Civ3Edit will aleviate this problem. Also, if you assign the Unit Ability "All Terrain as Roads", unfortunately when flying over water, it counts each space as one whole, rather than 1/3.

If anyone knows a work-around, please reply. If not, I hope Firaxis will be able to fix this part of the game so we can have helicopters that can attack cities, like in Civ II.

i like the way air units were made in civ3 so i dont think they will change that, except for the helicopters, they seem to be useless, but the rest of the air units are fine and the moving from city to city is much better than moving as a terrain unit like in civ2.

I like the airunits the way they are. Bombers are pretty good and can hit quite often and fighters protect them.
In Civ2 units like battleships and fighters could do considerable damage to defending units.

Well, I most certainly don't disagree with either of you because I like the way they have the planes and jets set up. The only thing that bothers me is just not having the ability to use Helicopters to attack as their were ground units.

I just hope they can fix it where when youadd units to the game, such as an attack chopper, you can be able to move them like a ground and sea unit, but with the ability to attack a city.

I agree with the choppers. They fly quite low and can be used to fight tanks on the ground.
