I've lurked around the forums for a while and haave noticed that everyone makes like 200gpt! i was just wondering how can someone get that much gold per turn when i can sometimes get 20gpt?
is their some secret i dont know about, ive got all roads and will put on rails when i get steam power but even then i might get only a handful more gold per turn.
Also how do you do Optimal City Placement(i think thats what its called)?
is it each city five squares away from another? I've read the tread but i didnt really understand it please help me.

PS i play Warlord if thats important somehow..

Welcome to CivFanatics [party] :bday:

to your first question, most peopel get so much money is because they are in an advanced gov. with less corruption like Democracy or Republic. they have also every tile covered in roads and later on railroads since they increase commerce. also they build marketplaces, banks, and Wall Street Small Wonder. finally they have tons of cities. the more cities you have the more commerce you make and the more commerce you make the more gpt or gold per turn you make. so basically create infrastructure, build money making improvements and small wonder, expand and have lots of cities, and be in a lower corruption and more advanced gov type. also if you have a huge empire meaning over the OSP then you should switch to Communism since it has communal corruption so that means even the far away cities have the same amount of corruption as your captial which earns you more money.
also one last thing Food is very important because the more food you have the more people you have resulting in more production and commerce. go read the entire War Academy and look for the article called "The Case for Food: How to be Economically Dominant" and also see "Babylon Diety Settlers" article i think its called. the War Academy is very useful it made me from an Chieftan player to Monarch player that is trying out Emperor level games :goodjob:

also OSP is city placement where you place cities accordingly to the terrain and resources for better efficientsy and also their is Ring City Placement you should read about in the War Academy :goodjob:

Hope all this helped you :goodjob:  :D

You can become a tech broker to generate lots of gpt. The idea is to trade techs to the other civs asap for whatever you can get from them. Eventually, they will start paying gpt for the techs and suddenly you have alot of civs giving you all thier spare gpt.

OCP means placing cities such that no tiles overlap another city radius and there are minimum to no unused tiles between cities. It makes for a prettier map but can be harder to play.
