The Malakim, IIRC, get +1 in deserts.
I could be absolutely and utterly mistaken, however, so don't quote me until somebody who actually PLAYS as the Malakim says something.
Yea the pedia hasn't been updated since the extra commerce on desert tiles has just been added in 0.34 recently.
They also get ignore terrain movement cost bonuses and extra desert strength for their units.
And so the brave forum goer did go off and play a malakim game. There were no sand worms. His life has been one of bleak, disappointed misery ever since...

The Malakim do get an added commerce in every desert tile, and though it's hardly useful for normal desert tiles, it certainly racks up the commerce on tiles you'd normally be using! (AKA resources, flood plains, sometimes desert hills.)
Along the lines of? Invisible animals who ignore borders and attack everybody outside cities. Malakim can tame them of course. Cannot move anywhere but desert.
That sandworm stuff is a joke but they do get sand lions, a unique summon for their mages that they can only cast in deserts. It's actually pretty great. Stronger than any "real" tier 2 summon except for twinked spectres, and it's a free spell so you don't have to spend 2 promotions on a magic line to get them.
