So, I spent 3 nights searching for the perfect map and get one with 2 cows, a river in the initial expansion and a second site nearby on the coast with a wine & 2 whales. Then I pop a nearby hut for a settler, all set right. Not really, I research all the way to 500 BC discovering 8 technologies before anyone else, but not SGLs. Now what? Abandon the game and try again is what I and a lot of the other HOF players do. It seems a waste to throw away the inital great starting location.

I didn't see anything against this in the rules, so I'll toss the idea out and if Superslug wants to squash it (how ironic to have a Slug do the squishing for a change), that's fine, but would anyone be adverse to using a thread for posting 4000 BC saves with a screenshot & a brief description (level, tribe, size, etc)? Since you'd be starting without anymore map knowledge than usual, all the same challenges would be present, yet the many iterations of MapFinder (I remember someone mentioning over a million tries) could be avoided.

I suspect this will cause more trobule than it is worth:

Person A and B both find a nice map on the thread. Person A plays Civ 8 hours a day and submits the game to the HOF, then their submission is approved. Person B can only play 2 hours a day and has to wait to the next update.

Person B does not know that person A submitted, nor has B looked at A's results. Should B be allowed to submit?

This seems like more trouble than it is worth. I would say no, but "the idea sucks" is a little strong so I vote for the monkey

Whether your idea flies or not - that was worth the price of the thread!

PS I went for the monkey.

Idea sucks since it is both a source of "corruption" and who wants to play someone elses settings??
(Nation choice, AI, Barbs, donination limit ...the whole thing)

 I'm always happy to see my name correctly identified as the animal and not a bullet. :goodjob:

Sadly, squash isn't yet in season, but I did keep some from last year's crop in the freezer, so now it's time for Superslug's Triple Squash Souffle:

Game Types:
Only single player epic games are allowed.

World Settings:
You may not use other player's seeds.

Reloading - Reloading a save to try and change game events is not allowed.

Oh, well, another time maybe, I just  at the thought of all those 4-cow on a river starts going to waste.

[to all those who replied, thx for not stomping an HOF newbie too hard]

No need to worry about that here, we've got a class-act group of players and posters. I think at one point Thunderfall almost forgot he was specifically moderating this forum, just on the sheer account that moderation is rarely needed here.
