map help

im very sorry if this is not the correct forum but here i go.

i am playing through on monarchy for the first time. and for some odd reason i cannot get maps ! i cant trade territorial or world maps with any civs, i obviously have map making and im in the industrial age! can someone tell me how to fix this annoyance.

Assuming you're playing Conquests, you need to have Navigation researched. Because it's an optional tech, you can get to the Industrial Age and not have Navigation...

If you're playing vanilla or PTW (I think), then Map Making enables map trading, but from what you say it sounds like you're playing Conquests.

im playing civ3 compete set so thats conquest i think, right? anyway this is my first time playing conquest ive aways used original civ3 and PTW thank you for informing me of navigation ill have to get that ASAP

You also can't trade contacts untial you research Printing Press.
